The only reason to purchase any computer with the new (NOT IMPROVED) Vista, IMHO, is to get a computer cheap as 'incentive' to 'upgrade.' ROFLMAO. Yeah Right! ... But to then proceed to clean the disk of windows Vista and install something else. Either: Older windows OS. Mac or some flavor of Linux. Ubuntu is a good flavor.

The only reason i will retain a computer with older version of windows, is so my kids and I can continue playing our favorite games. That PC will not be connected to the web. A separate machine with a completely different OS will be our new main PC in the very near future.I E sucks too. Anything arbitrary, or that trys to be the only show in town I am against.

Windows is going to lose most of their loyal customers, I believe. They got too haughty thinking they are the only game in town.A day approacheth when MS will be an anachronism. And they have only themselves to blame. MS has been going downhill. ME was bad enough. This is even worse.
MS has broke the proverbial camels back.

May i suggest a new addition to riding shotgun? How about Linux and Mac tips, tricks and basics? IMHO most people will be moving to alternative systems. I am asking, PRETTY PLEASE? ;-)

I will use Vista when hell freezes over.

Thanks for all the great tips!

I recently went from the original 1g to 2g on my Acer laptop (it came with VHP) and things immediately got better... My question is how much better would 3 or 4 gigs be, and given the very much higher price of 2gig sticks, is it a good bang for the buck to go higher than 2 gigs?

Also, What is the configuration in the newest computers - mainly desktops - offering 3gigs of RAM right off the shelf? 3x1 or 2 +1 or what? When you can find them, 2gig sticks seem to be way more expensive than 1gig... and computers don't seem to have 3 or 4 RAM slots anymore.

ps: I wish laptops offering 1gig came with a 1 gig stick and an open slot to add, INSTEAD of the usual 2x512 setup, requiring one to throw out the 2 512 sticks when adding the new 1gig sticks during an upgrade.

pps: I really enjoy your show... I can't listen live as the current live time doesn't work for me... I wish you were live on weekends, like in the past.
