As 2010 swings into high gear, I pledge to add at least 40 new how-to videos to the HelpMeRick.com library of information. In addition to those 40 new tutorial videos, I will be answering your questions via my weekly Videocast and email of the week articles as well. I also post interesting or relevant tech news from time-to-time and will continue that practice as well.

In the past, I have solicited your suggestions for tutorial ideas, tips you want to know more about, and topics you would like me to expand upon. This year, I ask you for the same feedback. Leave a comment below this article with tips and tricks you want to hear more about and tech topics that you would find interesting to read.

After all, I built this site almost 15 years ago for YOU, the reader.

Lastly, I also implore you to share information about this site with all of your tech friends, family, and colleagues. Look through the archives containing hundreds of tips to learn something new, find a solution to a nagging problem, and then share those solutions or tips with everyone you know. Spreading the word about HelpMeRick.com makes the community grow and allows me to grow the site along with the community making it an even more meaningful experience for you.

Thanks and Happy New Year! Remember to leave a comment below with suggestions you have for future articles and tips!

Rick: Your site and newsletter have helped me in more ways and more things than I can tell. I had never even tried to work a computer till I was almost 70 years old and talk about an “old dog learning new tricks” – it works with with the information that is available on your site. My wife also uses things gathered from you nearly everyday. She is pretty well disabled and spends most of her time playing games on her machine. Some that she has on CD’s but also some on the internet. We have met and made friends with people from all over the world and any time one of them says anything about having computer problems – I send them acopy of your latest newsletter and tell them to check your site and “ask Rick – he knows most of the answers and will tell you how to fix it”. I know some of them have and thanked me for sending them the site information.
Take care and have a great day. Remember the coffee pot is always on here and we would be more than happy to have you come by whenever you are in Raton. Lee

I would like to learn more about Linux, especially using commands via the console. Currently, I am experimenting with Fedora and Kubuntu.

HELP…….I’ve lost the lil microphone on my task bar.
How do I get it back? My sound is either very loud, or not loud enough. Thus I’m always adjusting it on the task bar. But now the icon is gone. Please direct me!

I know you’ve got a great article on setting up a new computer (http://helpmerick.com/setting-up-a-new-computer.htm), but I’ve had several people ask me questions about migration strategies lately. What’s the best way to move all those pretty powerpoint presentations people have been emailing me for the past 10 years to my new computer? Files and Settings Transfer Wizard? Just burn all my files to a disc?

More importantly, I’ve had a couple of people as me the best way to move their iTunes library from an old PC to a new one without losing playlists. There’s bound to be a way, but I sure don’t know it!
