I'm not sure why it does that during the scan, but unless it is reported as infected you don't need to worry about it. If you want to learn more, AVG has a great help board on their website .

Okay rick here is one for you....I bought a computer from the surplus store of where I work. It came with windows 2000. It doesnt have the XP firewalls and all that security stuff. I am going to be upgrading to XP in the next couple of days. First question. Do I get the full install or the upgrade from 2K to XP? and what is going to be the differance between the two. Also, I downloaded the AVG antivirus cause I had some major computer problems and now after taking away 113 viruses.....yes you read right...... 113!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know that when I get XP I am not going to use the norton or anything else they have installed in the program. My father actually recommended me to your sight and the AVG thing. I guess all those tech support problems I have helped him with in the past have finally come back around. so Upgrade to XP home or full install of XP home? thanks Rick

You can do a full install with the upgrade disk.

Don't try to upgrade Windows 2000 to XP. But, as long as you have a Windows 98 or 2000 disk you can do a full install with the upgrade disk. When installing XP it will ask you whether you want to upgrade or do a clean install.

If you choose the clean install it will erase your entire drive then install XP. It will ask you to insert the Windows 98 or 2000 disk at some point to verify that you do have a previous version of Windows.

Rick,
God bless you brother for your site. I am new to computers and how to navagate through the process. I am learning fast.

I purchased a used lap top and all the programs I need are in place, I think. An update message came on screen for my free XP update and clicked install now. However, when it came to the authjorization section it would not install because the windows program is not a licensed program. Now what do I do??

The lap top is slow so I defraqued it and have 61% available free space. Now what do I do??

Can I get morememory to speed it up and will I loose all my files and bookmarks???

I know I am a dummy but this cyber thing is new to me. Thanks Rick. My e-mail is: ugotml@yahoo.com
