Hi Rick,
I wanted to know if I can download my Vista Program to a CD from a Dial up connection? I have a Dell computer I purchased last November 08, and of course they don’t give you the disks or CD’s to have as a back up. I have tried to go to their web site but by the time I find what I’m looking for (I think) I’m usually exhausted. Therefore, I leave it and plan to try again the next day, don’t have the time and then I forget how I got there.
I’m somewhat new to all this stuff but the computer seems to be working ok. I have been able to get help through e-mail for other programs on my computer.
I had an old computer that went down on me, black screen. Nothing I did would bring it back, not that I did all that much. Purchased another one and again I started to have a lot of trouble. Long story short, I’m afraid to have anything happen to this one.
Also, would it help to get a Windows Vista for Dummies?
Thanking you in advance for any help you can give me.
Barbara
Answer
Hello Barbara.
Yes, you can and should make the recovery CD set for your computer and since it does not require an Internet connection, it doesn’t matter that you have dial-up. To make them, have 5-6 CD-Rs on hand then click Start –> All Programs –> Dell Accessories then start their Restore CD creation program.
As for a book, I absolutely loathe the Dummies books because I think they put learners at a disadvantage immediately based on their title. Imagine if schools called kids dummies or used text books for dummies. OK, I’m stepping off my soap box. Instead, I think one of these books make learning easier:
Good luck and thanks for writing!
