QUESTION

Name:  Barb

From:   Grand Junction,CO

OS:      Windows Vista

———————-
If I install Windows 7 and I find I do not like it, can I re-install Vista on my HP Laptop by using the recovery Disk, then I would have to set it all up again?
Is it necessary to have Winows 7 professionaly installed, or is it as easy as the Beta version you installed?
Thanks for all you do, you have helped me so much over the years.

ANSWER

First, you are welcome…I appreciate the kind words and hope you keep talking about me and referring people to the site for years more to come.

And, yes, you can definitelyrevert back to Vista if you don’t like Windows 7 using your restore CDs. However, I think you will enjoy the changes and increased speed with Windows 7. And another big yes to doing it yourself. I would recommend reformatting the hard drive first and doing a fresh install, but it is by far the easiest Windows install I’ve ever done. Let me know how it turns out.

  1. If you install Windows 7, yes, you will have to set it up from scratch to the way you like to work. If you do not like W7 and you reinstall Vista, you will have to set THAT up all over again. Depending on how your recovery disk is structured, you might have all the junk software reinstalled when you reinstall Vista. So don’t think this will be a walk in the park. I’m surprised Rick made it sound like a 10 minute job. It’s not.

  2. not to mention drivers…………..
