Firefox 3.0 is now available for full download for the masses.
It is reported to be the fastest version of firefox yet, and possibly one of the fastest browsers period.
We have tested it for a while and it appears to be ready for use. Be careful if you run a lot of extensions, you will want to research and make sure that your extensions are compatible with 3.0.
There are several new features to Firefox 3.0 which we will write about later and talk about on the show.

I installed the portable version of Firefox 3 today, and so far it looks pretty good. Most of my extensions work; particularly the big four: Adblock Plus, NoScript, IE Tab, and Forecastfox. The 2 Pane Bookmarks extension works most of the time. Sometimes it seems to get confused, and I have to turn the sidebar off and back on to reset it.
A few hours use isn’t really enough to tell about the touted performance improvements. My first impression is that is does load web pages a bit faster, but that’s just an impression, not anything measured.
I would recommend backing up the Firefox application data before actually replacing FF2 with FF3. Just to be safe.

I just installed and uninstalled Firefox 3. As good as it looks, until they can solve the problem of allowing highlighting of parts of a webpage and then printing it, I’ll pass.
Lynn
1. Highlight what you want to print
2. Click File –> Print from the menus
3. Choose Selection
4. Click OK
Thanks, but that is what I did. It chops off part of the side of the print. For example – I go to gmail and select part of a mailing. When printing it moves everything to the right – as if it is leaving space for the left column, even though that is not selected. Then it truncates the right side of the words. I looked on the Firefox 3 list of problems and it is listed as a problem. I assume they will be fixing it and I look forward to using it then.
Lynn
They fixed the select print. Firefox 3 is very fast, as promised.

Well, I must be having a senior moment, because the new bookmarks feature on Firefox 3.0 has me puzzled. How do I add a new one and how do I access my old ones? Any help from some one smarter than me would be appreciated. Thanks!
I will be posting some Firefox 3 videos over the next month, but your bookmarks can be found and used exactly as you did in all previous versions of Firefox; Click Bookmarks and Add Bookmark to add one, and click Bookmarks from the menus to find your saved bookmarks.
Watch for an upcoming videos on Firefox 3’s enhancements, coming soon.
Is it just me … or is Firefox 3 actually slower than the previous version?
It is running very sluggish for me.

Check to make sure you haven’t overloaded extensions or anything, but 3 is clearly faster and more responsive than 2.
