I really love English Bulldogs.
Recently I became aware of a common pet scam that is based on every other over seas Internet scam.
Someone from Cameroon posts a desired breed up for a ridiculously low price.
He/she asks for money plus shipping. You never get the dog.
Here is my recent correspondence with one such scammer.
I have resorted the posts from oldest to newest so you can enjoy the events as they occurred.
For reference, here are the photos the scammer sent with the email. Keep in mind that these are the actual size photos that were sent!

it is no problem. I am so glad you wrote back. Those pictures are still very small. I used my photoshop custom enlargement filter and the dog has a brown patch over the left eye in some photos but not in others. Does the patch move? Did the patch appear as he got older? You didn’t use an bleach or other chemicals to remove the spot did you? The smell of bleach bothers my cats.
Are the pictures actual size? Have you had the puppy vaccinated against elm beetle?

At this point I decide to make some of the same mistakes in my post as they make in theirs. Note that they were hoping that the dog would go to a good Christian home and that they work for Christ orphanage, yet she was delayed in a previous post because she was gone for evening prayers. Isn’t that strange?

I just realized that Cameroon is in AFRICA! Did you know that? I thought it was in Detroit or something. That is too far for me to go to pickup the dog. I will wait until you get back to Denver. Let me know when you get here. Please keep your dog in doors I heard that some places in Africa catch stray dogs and put them in baby food. I would hate for you to have to utter the words – “A baby ate my dingo”
I am sure you will find another interested party in Cameroon with air conditioning.

Sorry for your loss but note that there is no such thing as a “good scammer” – there are bad scammers; they are NASTY CRIMINALS and there are no “shes” – there are ONLY RUTHLES MALE UNEDUCTED SCUMBAGS who spend their days and nights sending already scripted e-mails from Internet Cafes pretending to be a widow, a church or a mission worker even a pet breeder sometimes. IT’S ALL LIES – ALL SCAMS, FRAUD AND PHISHING USING FAKE WEB SITES pretending to be “A Pet Transporters”!
People, do get involved – search for other forums as well to place your complains with copies of your e-mails including ORIGINATING IP – this way more potentials victims will be warned!

The dog was purfect. Then I got a feeling that things might not be as it seems. I started looking up cameroon & found your side. Still trying to see if it is a scam or not. I replied back to her again. Saying the following.

The person said that his lil’ girl was in the hospital and that there was no one to look after his precious babies… the African Parrots (Cacatoos) well i took the bait… he wanted to know if i was a genuine person and not some bird breeder or seller, who would sell of his birds… i gave him all the details unfortunately even my home add… but when he started to ask for money for shipment… i thought that it was not right for me to send the money b4 i got the product… so i requested him and for which he did’nt agree… and then i said sorry and i totally forgot bout this….
All this took place atleast 6 months back… he suddenly pops up on my chat and asks me if i’m the same person who wanted his birds… i say yes… he agrees to send them to me and that i should pay directly to the shippin company… i still refuse… he gets so pissed off that he starts calling me names… like wicked… and god only knows what all… i ask him to stop being rude and he still does not budge… so i ask him to f*** off and shove the pretty birds up his behind… he gets more angry and threatens me that he’s got my home address and that he’s gonna send men to coup my house and shoot me with a AK47… lovely isn’t it… all this for not taking his precious babies….
All these kind of people are sick… mentally… they want to make quick money without any kind of hardwork… may god give them the rightly deserved place in hell… AMEN!!

I was just about to get scammed, with someone from cameroon. They sent me the samethings. She said she was from Northern Cameroon.
I have recently almost been scammed, while looking for a Teacup yorkie to buy. But luckily for the internet, I have done some research while i was looking for where Western Victoria Cameroon was located(which is where they said they were located), then came up, “dog scams in Cameroon”. As soon as i read these posts, all seemed identical to the emails i had received from them. I then read their email they had sent me recently and there where so many mistakes. first they told the were going to fly them, them, ship, then fly. then they were saying they were from Wales Cameroon… WTF. I hope these people get punished. and luck for these posts, it saved me from sending any information and money to them.

He claimed his wife died 3 weeks ago on her way to piano lessons, from a car accident. Its seemed like it was all true but once I researched his name on google there were two other stories about the same guy and that he supposely works for the American Peace Corps. People please beware do not get so caught up on the puppies and the peoples story!! Just try to put all the pieces together and please open your eyes that they might be lying.

I’ve got one now! He is trying to sell piebald ball pythons which generally sell for about $1500 depending on their patterns. He sent me pictures of the same snake and said that they were different snakes. I confronted him about it but he said that they were related. That is impossible for related snakes to have the same pattern let alone similar ones like he was claming. I sent him a picture of them next to each other.
He also seems to have forged a document saying that he is alowed to ship pythons to “USA WORLD WIDE” I wonder if I could get him in trouble for forging a legal document. His name, or at least what he cals himself, is Ndonwie Calvin F. and his email is funwiecal@yahoo.co. I tried to hack into it but I couldn’t although I did find out that he only created it on the third of november.
i had the very same thing happen to me, ican only say this, i have learned a lesson and luckily only $310 was lost. i had seince enough to not pay the insurance fee of $800, this was obiously so fake, how could i not have known? the whole time i felt weary about it but the excitment of having a puppy got the best of me. if it feels wrong, dont do it, that it the best advice i could ever give and the best motto t follow in life. i wish i would have listined to what i was feeling

For those that don’t want to get off their butts and meet the breeder of that dog or bird, if your looking for a freebie and just wanting to pay shipping, then FLY the pet COD. This way your not out anything until you actually get your pet. Many airlines ship this way. In the end, KNOWING that a 1000.00 dog or bird is being offered for a rediculous price, is red flag enough to walk away….if you want a purebred dog or a expensive bird, break down, save for it, meet it and the breeder in person and get what your paying for and many times more since a reputable breeder will actually have health gaurantee’s…quit trying to get off cheap and you might actually save yourself headaches of getting scammed. Ask for references, pictures of parents, grandparents etc….. there are many ethical breeders out there. All you have to do is research, do your homework and go with your gut.
In the end….MEET YOUR POTENTIAL NEW PET IN PERSON….something for nothing cost you more in many cases then breaking down and paying the middle market value of an animal.
This camerooner scam has been going on for YEARS…its time to wake up!

This ad I found in my LSN, I live in Tennessee, and the puppy was supposedly in Atlanta, GA, which wouldn’t be that far for me to drive to pick up the puppy. There was a really cute picture of the puppy.
Here’s the ad:

You cannot directly import a dog from Cameroon – the dog would need to spend 6 months in an AQIS approved country before being imported. I answred an online ad and got this. Since the eggs were sent within day of hatching they supposedly hatched in route. Now they are supposedly having to be sent by the transport company not fed ex. They keep asking for money for insurance and permits that were rquired by a new law of “2009″. Then since they hatched in route a bird crate was needed, more money. I was getting more suspicious, then they made it to the USA where coustoms wouldn’t let them thru with out a health report showing thy hatched in route not in Africa more money. I am now told Dr. Marshall was suppose to pay for home delivery for the babies because that was different from the origional delivery. I saw his ad on craigslist -He claimed to have been in the Navy and was now in Cameroon doing research work but I began to get suspicious when the language became choppy and his emails are copied and pasted because they duplicate themselves in the same email. He claimed his “late” wife cared for the puppies and now he doesn’t see them because of his work and the climate ect. Well, I am sure am glad he got over his wife dying so recently since the “puppies” are only 9 weeks old. Now he is very persistent about me wiring money to him and wants a control number from the wire transfer – apparently the $200 he wanted for the puppies is worth $100,000.00 in Cameroon cash. Quite a nice payday!! Be careful – don’t buy a dog or anything for that matter without actually seeing it. Ebay is enough of a gamble!!!

I got scammed by a so called Brenda Sharon. she was in cameroon on a mission and had 2 weeks to send her maltese back to the states. Luckily we only sent them half of the money. Once we got the “airport” email that wanted more money to put our names on the puppies paper i knew something was up. I even tried calling the airport to see if it was real, couldnt get a hold of them. Its so disgusting what these people are doing. I hope someone can learn from my mistake… dont fall for this, buy a pup from a shelter or some where you can actually go and see it. ..

They all said the same thing that previous people have said on this site a couple of the e-mails were exactly the same just with Great Dane in the place of English Bulldogs, I knew this was a scam from the second she said that all she wanted was $242 for the adoption fee when Great Danes sell around $1500.00

My fiance and I were also almost roped into this scam we send $100 to a woman named Megan Kelly who was supposed to be a vet in Cameroon, but when we sent the western union it was supposed to go to a Bonfin Yermina. After we sent them the money they were supposed to put the puppies on a plane to Little Rock. We got a call from the airport in England about some insurance money. We stopped right there after calling the federal trade commission.

This pet scam is horrendous they told me that his wife had been killed in a car crash so I thought why this must be real otherwise why would someone make stuff up like that they wanted me to send £115 or they would kill my puppy if I didn’t send the money within the hour which is horrendous but it is not just dogs its cats and monkeys it makes me sick the man that got me was called Seal Phil Johnson.

I have been looking and looking for weeks for ones in ALABAMA, because I want to be able to drive and pick it up myself, and everytime I find one from “Alabama”, and I send them an e-mail, they reply saying they’re from Cameroon….they are hacking into all the states and putting up ads there. Never once did this person answer any of my questions nor did they provide me with any contact information like I had asked. I was fairly sure at this point this was all bogus. So I looked online and plain as day was this email address on hundreds of sites with not only the same puppy ad posted but also in regards to fraud. Once I saw this I became enraged!! I sent back this:
Maybe before you decide to scam folks here in USA you should learn to speak/type English. Also when you are stating what state you live in NO ONE here refers to anywhere as “USA Alabama” or whatever state you are supposed to be from. Cameroon is far off from Alabama. Also you should make sure that no one else is using the same pictures of “Adorable English bulldog puppies” that is a dead give away. I should let you know I have contacted my exhusband who works with the department of Justice, he is tracking down the source of your email address, and others with similar scams out there. We will be sure the US of A knows all about your SCAMS. How sick can a person be to use animals and the kindness of those who love animals to scam them out of their hard earned money. If I could make a suggestion, GET A JOB!!

Sorry to make this post unbelievably long but I do have more. Along with my searching I came across another ad, this one in my town, claiming to have puppies for sale. This sounded more likely and I didn’t think anything of it since I had found it on Craigslist along with many other puppies for sale…most of the other ads where also in our local newspaper so this sounded more legit. I messaged this person and asked the normal questions this is what I got:

After numerous back & forth emails, we were told dog being shipped following morning. That morning call came by phone to reply to email confirmation of shipping by company.
So called company spokesman never identifiend self by company name, hung up as I started to ask a question
We sent no money upfront, the deal was we were to pay only shipping $230.00 and dog was ours, no sale price, we were “adopting”
By late that day no email or shipping info, given to us.
We thought strange there would be no call or email with shipping info for dog, ie; arrival time / carrier name.
I emailed “seller” and was told check spam account, said company told him, goes there sometime.
already this point we are thinking this getting fishy.
The email cemented are concerns.
Email stated we were to send a “WalMart MoneyGram” to an individual in Cameroon as they were the dogs “escort” a subcontractor for Air France who the Air carrier was to be.
I of course called air france & me and the employee had good laugh about this scam, they confirmed they see all the time.
I emailed “seller” back, that I had just talked to AIR FRANCE and they don’t do business like that.
Minutes later I get phone call, very scratchy sounding with an obvious African voiced gentleman doing bad impression of a french man.
Asking us to please reply and send payment as dog in holding.
As I told him I just got off phone with Air France and Knew this was scam, he promptly hung up & last we heard of these scammers.
I researched Cameroon & internet scams & found photo of room full of people from Cameroon, in room full of computers pulling these scams.
While we suffered no loss, it was irratating wasting this time and trying to be scamed.
I like your idea of turning the tables, think will try do do some of the same.

I expect there are many loving animals at the local shelter. I have acquired 2 dogs in this manner. Another (pedigree, I may add) was given to me. She was obviously abused. I will never understand anyone who would abuse an animal. As for scams, I believe I’ve just this week received one from out of state. I made phone contact with both the scammer, and the BBB of that state.
The scammer’s response was, ‘it was a mistake’. Yeah, right.

Then I sent $1000.00 for insurance that I am promised to get back when the birds are delivered to me. I emailed two references of his-people he said had gotten birds from him. Of course they said they had some delays but got their birds and are happy with him.
I just found this information and will not be sending more money to the “Reverend”.

I answered an ad the end of last week about a tea cup yorkie puppy, and have since found out it was a scam….after sending $1000 for a puppy that was only supposed to be $100 to ship. It started with the $100 shipping fee, then I received an email from the shipping company that I needed to send $350 for a refundable insurance fee, then received an email from the airline that I needed to send $750 for a refundable quarantine fee for him to be checked by a vet and then shipped…well, this morning “after he saw the vet” I received an email from the airline that he needed 4 vaccines and would have to send $1712 for a refundable vaccine fee…That is when I finally caught on…talk about stupidity….needless to say, I am out $1000…
I was only able to email with the “sender” of the puppy because the phone number he gave me had too many digits at the end so it did not work. Now that I have sent all this money over there, I no longer hear anything from the sender.

This is ridiculous. i have been looking for a yorkie for a while. I live in South Carolina so I checked with one of our main newspapers online classified ads. I got a lot of results. I emailed 12 different supposed yorkie sellers. 9 of them came back as people in Cameroon. This is crazy considering our newspaper is not one of the biggest and most known in the US. I just got scamed out of 240. dollars. I could of been worse, because they wanted me to send a 950.00 insurance fee. I was about to when I was emailing with the (suspose) company that the dog would be shipped from. I wanted to send a money gram online. They told me NO it HAD TO BE DONE IN PERSON!!! At this time, I was talking to the person that I sent the money to and the company. The more and more I spoke with the only person at this company through e-mail the more shady it became.
I sent a e-mail asking the company to call me, because there office hours were 6 P.M. and on. The response I recived was “someone will sooner or later”. Yeah nice costumer service.
So I called the airport that they said the puppy was going to be shipped from. They never heard of he company that was shipping the dog witch was (USA PET TRANSPORTERS ltd) and I talked with the airline that the dog was suspose to be on and guess what? they DO NOT SHIP PETS!!
So finally I received a phone call from a private number witch I questioned and got a stupid answer. Then I asked for the address of this “private airport” they were using and got hung up on. Finally the guy called that I purchased the puppy from and told me he would pay the 950. and for me to send it to him when I get refunded at my door. 5 hrs later I still have not heard from him with the information.
I email him back and he called me. He says: Maam my wife said I should not have to pay all of it. If you can send 450. and ill pay the 500. Ummm no I will not send your sneaky a@$ anymore money.

i told them i would pay for the shipping well he said he he lived in seaatle washington and the air fare was 200.00 so i said i would pay it. he said he was going to the air port the next day and they would be calling me for my information and money. the next day i got a email from the airport it looked kinda strange so i got on line to the air port and put in the flight there was no such airplane by that number so i emailed the guy back wanting his phone number he gave it to me and said i could call but he was very busy man so i called no such number today i got another email from him and he said the airport contacted him and said i didnt pay the 200.00 and they couldnt send the dog so i emailed him back and told him there was no such airplane going out that day by that number but if he really wanted me to have the puppies he could send them to me and when i picked them up i would sent him a check so this guy is a scam artist also

pretty much the same, located in cameroon, looking for homes for their teacup yorkies. I started to question it because the pictures they had sent me, I had seen on other advertisements. I then decided to do a google search for teacup yorkie scams and found this. You can get scammed on the internet, but you can also save yourself from being scammed. My apologies to all those you have been taken.
Different email, same location (Camroon). I contacted cheny024@mailbolt.com (he also uses emails chenyp24@mailbolt.com, cheny224@mailbolt.com) about a teacup yorkie for a $210 “adoption fee.” When he emailed me back this is what he had to say:

I found one of his email addresses on a similar website talking about the Camroon pet scam and knew it was a fake. The phone number on the ad didn’t work anyway and there were several other red flags that made me very suspicious. Use your feelings and always check out as much as you can about the person. If you think it’s too good to be true, it probably is…

You have been scammed. Do not send them any more money. You are unfortunately out the $400 and will never be able to retrieve it. A co-worker of mine was involved in a similar scam… no dog actually exists. These people are only creating road blocks to get more money out of you. They will use your pity for the animal (The animal is here at the airport…) to try to get more money out of you. It is all a made up story. Sorry you are out the money, but there are some who have ended up sending thousands.

Until it seemed we needed money to get the money out of the country. I asked if it was possible to leave it in an account over there as that particular account opening and transfer was free, until a later time as we truly couldn’t afford it. After that we never heard from them again. Admittedly I was green then. Suspicion was intial – but they got me believing, anticipating….which what made us so ill after. That there are people out there like that. After a lot of research I found I was not alone, with us our confidence knocked, trusted weakened, but others had gone the extra distance and lost actual money. I am glad we didn’t get to that point.
Now quite hardened by it all….once bitten – twice shy.
We still receive winnings notifications for every lottery imagineable, inherited money from complete strangers, are asked business propositions from Int. Banks that have clients die, clients with large sums of money that you can end up with a share of… And now refreshingly it’s all about a cute puppy dog….but at the end of it all it all leads to money I’m suppossed to give them. Junk Mail doen’t seem to ditch it automatically.
The only advice I could offer as most written here would know now already.
You might not let a wolf into your house if he was at the door, but he can come into you living room, study, office, bedroom – wherever there is a computer anytime he/she likes. Check everything out – back track through other channels aside from the ones they provide. Generally you just need to punch in whatever the offering is into Internet Explorer and “scam” and see what pops up. If in doubt that has always answered my questions about their legitimacy. And never take it personally as we did our first time…we lost a bit of faith in ourselves for not knowing better. We are much more savvy now. Don’t bite the bait!

I am in the progress of finding the right puppy for me and found myself in the middle of a scam, a puppy scam originating out of cameroon africa. There are a huge amount of ads posted on the internet for free or way under priced puppies for sell (common breeds are chihuahua, yorkie, maltese and english bulldog) I stumbled across a website called examiner.com and found an ad for a free english bull dog puppy and replied to the ad. After several emails getting my hopes up about this so called puppy and this person speaking about how religious they are what kind of a family and hard working man he is I began to become suspicious. I asked were he was located and this is when I learned he was in Cameroon and was asking me to send hime my personal information so I could pay for the puppies shipping to the states which would supposidly only be 200 dollars. I have known of scams like the lottery scam and the scam of inheirited money so I googled cameroon and point is that every item that came up was titled scam! Do Not give these people your money! There is no puppy! I got onto one of the websites where people post their email correspondences with these scammers and have posted the scammers email address to stear people away form these scams. I noticed my guy was one on this list! I became very sad while reading countless posts of people who have lost thousands of dollars not to mention embarressment, guilt and shame for just not knowing. Being a home maker I have time on my hands so it is now my task at hand to contact these scammers in disguise of a buyer to post their email addresses and names on this website just to do my part. I hope that you all will become more aware that not all people are trustworthy. I think alot of us who are so excited about getting a puppy and finding the right price for us has overshawdowed our commen sense and so I just come to you with this messege.. BUYER BEWARE! It is more important to find a LOCAL seller who will meet with you so you can see for yourself the puppy so you can go home with peace of mind and a puppy! Even if it means paying alittle bit more because in the end if your not certain of something you might just pay more then you would otherwise. So why would someone in their right mind “sell” or give away a dog for under $500. There was my FIRST suspicion. Next, if you are buying any sort of dog you should be researching them. English Bulldogs DIE in exposure to heat. Do you really think that a healthy dog with those sorts of specifications would come from AFRICA? open your eyes people…be skeptic of this nonesense. My second email I recieved from these people asked for my info. I would not send it. I asked more questions, which in turn made them state things like “waiting” at the end of their emails. They would not accept paypal or anything like that and truly do you not think you could find a dog closer to where you live? I did not fall for this scam. I hope this information prevents further scams from people that are too dam lazy to get a real job instead of feeding off of innocent people. Support your local animal shelters and the country you live in. Do not let these morons steal from you. This man is very good at this scam. He had me hook line and sinker. I made the mistake of sending the first 98.00 and then I received the email from Delta shipping express needing 1500.00 for shipping. I talked to this man many times and I even call the airport wanting to know if insurance was required why did they not tell him when he dropped the dog off at the airport. They said they would make an exception and let me send money per money gram and I would receive a full refund upon arrival of the puppy. I contacted Dr.Bent and he said he could pay 520.00 if I could pay the rest of 980.00. I sent 200.00 which was all the cash I could get on such short notice, Thank God, He email me back stating he was at the airport and they told he me that the airport had received th 200.00 and would I please see if I could help find some more money. He would ship him out tomorrow. He was trying to borrow the money. I became concerned when I looked up the phone number online for the airport and nothing matched. Then I found this web site. Oh how I wish I had found it first.

I also have contacted many websites and even wrote a letter to dr.phil lol. I know that if enough of us send dr.phil or oprah a letter about what has happened to us with scammers they will do a story on it. Oprah is a huge dog lover and dr.phil also a dog lover but he has also done several stories on scams like the baby adoption scams, dr.phil scams so on. Also dateline would help to spread awareness. I am just continually sending letters hoping to get this on the tv somehow.
I was just going threw craigslist dallas tx pets and the scammers are on craigslist again with cockatoos. It was very noticible to me so I just flagged them and everytime I try to post awareness on craigslist they flag me so I try anyway.

I dont have any money. I cant afford to have a car. I am lucky if I have enough money to actually eat warm food each day. and your telling me that it is my fault? If I were to scam someone and got caught, I would be thrown in PRISON, and that is exactly what should happen to these scammers. ‘SMart computer’, you just dont have a heart, just because there are people worse off than me does not mean my problems are any less significant! It is only a different perspective. These people work HARD for their money and expect to see somehting for it. They did not pay 1,000 dollars for a dog, they paid an average of 166 HOURS of work. So get over yourself….it is the scammers fault and they should be BLAMMED!

I then figured out it was Cameroon Africa and this must be a scam. After further Googling the subject of Cameroon and pet sales, I realized it was a scam and asked the guy to send me another photo of the dog with a piece of paper in the picture with today’s date written on it because I thought that he was scamming me. Needless to say, I have not heard from him since. The email address he used was seasonpets@aol.com. PLEASE beware of these people!!!! I am so glad I found this website and many others stating the same thing!!

I should have added in my originally posting that this Chris James person is located in Cameroon Africa. And like the others I have seen, he claimed his duty there was tight up and he could hardly spend time adequately caring for and loving them. In one email I sent him, I did tell him I thought it was a scam and he got back to me and was very upset with me and talked me into believing he was not and knew nothing of the refundable insurance fee. I did the same with the airline today and they “insisted” that I retract that statement…which I refuse to do. The airline name used was French International Airlines….they don’t exist…the shipping company was Pets Relocators….they do not exist either.

Thank you for your sympathy for what I am going through. We have listed their emails and IP addresses on other sites, contacted the local authorities and filed and Internet Crime Claim and are looking to further work with the FBI to see what we can do about them. After some talking to them, they claimed they would refund the money the next morning by Moneygram as they had had me do….but, of course, we are still awaiting the refund. Although my children are a little older, this was a very wanted pet, and we are all very hurt in regard to what they did…not only financially, but in our hearts.
They almost got me but I just decided to google the name and “poof” you guys come up and save my money!

I was also taken but with me it was baby ferrets. I love ferrets and it is hard to get baby ferrets. The add offered babies 9-11 wks old. All i had to do was send 510.00 and i would get 2 babies and a large cage delveried to my door. I thought i was smart and asked for proof. I got 4 emails from so called happy clients. I asked if 510 was the full bill and was told over and over it was. Until pet relocaters contacted me then i knew something was funny and found this web site wish i had found it before, god i feel so dumb, i got the whole story of health papers, wanting a good home and all that. I wasn’t looking for a bargin, the ferrets were 150.00ea and the cage 210 which is about what it costs here not that much of a bargin. i just wanted babies. Be warned they are also selling, monkeys, rare cats, ferrets,parrots and everything else they think some one wants. I have no way of getting my money back but i am going to make sure every ferret owner in canada is going to know about this scam. I am going to contact all ferret clubs, groups etc that i can find. We will never get our money back but revenge is healing, let any and all clubs, groups what ever know what is going on,i am going to take out ads in local papers. I was looking to get a Yorkie as a pet. They are so adorable. I searched on the Internet for them, then came across a ad saying the puppy was free for adoption. I e-mailed the advertiser and it turned out that it was Isis Barnes (Baris18361@yahoo.com) I thought it was to good to be true, but keep e-mailing the guy who was located in Cameroon, Africa. I live in Sioux Lookout, Ontario and told him that the distance was to far and it would cost too much for the shipping since the vast distance. He then replied and said it would only be $250. I thought that was crazy. That long distance all the way from Africa and I live in Ontario and it would only cost $250. I then looked up his name and then came to this website where scams have been found to be occurring in Cameroon, Africa. I am not falling for this and am so glad that I followed my instincts. Anyone else out there that comes up on a ad similar to the ones noted in any of the above messages don’t be fooled!!!

i nearly got scammed in england. i live in london and i was looking for a pug puppy well i e-mailed people who advertised themselves in london to find out they had moved to liverpool or even scotland and they would happily ship the puppy to me. well after tthe 3rd ‘moved’ pup i said well thats lucky as my friend lives just down the road she will come pick up the puppy, to be them told the pup could only be shipped i told them to stuff it and reported the advertiser to the web site! beware of priests selling dogs or if the person says they have lost a husband/wife who looked after the puppy they may not be true! look more local don’t go for the cheap it’ll cost more in the end!!!!
This is the email I have for Chris James in Cameroon. He just scammed me out of $158.00 for the non-existing Yorkie Puppy. I am extremely angry and I am going to do all I can within my power to contact the Cameroon African authorities as well as the FBI and let them know this is going on. I am reporting everything. I still have every email sent to me and all correspondence and I have the copy of my Western Union money transfer, with his name, address, phone number EVERYTHING. I am determined to put this guy in jail. He is a no other then a THEIF. I am sick to death of the imorality of people in this day and age and their disregard for others. It is the reason we cannot seem to ever reach an agreement on a global scale for world peace, because too many people are so dishonest and full of disrespect. I will also contact Dateline, and attempt to contact 20/20 also so we can stop these scammers from going forward.
I happened upon this just like the rest of you. Almost sent the money and when Western Union wouldn’t allow my transaction to clear I got a feeling it was for a reason since I have plenty of money. I started googling anything on the paperwork received from the “transportation company” and nothing proved of a legitimate nature. The only thing the even pulled up was the Air Cargo World which is a magazine. I am glad that I was able to find this out before I sent the $. I am very nervous that they have all of my personal information as far as my telephone # and address but other than that I was saved from the terrible fate that most of you suffered. The worst is that my family was so excited to get this new little baby…

He got you just two days before he got me. What’s worse it that I felt funny right up until the time I sent the money and I made 14 attempts to decline but I was too late. He had to have been right there to get the money or working with someone at Western Union. I can not stand for people to speak of God or family members who have passed on for personal gain. I wish I could look at this as a charity gift but I just can’t he stole from me. Yeah some may think well you were foolish to go along with it, true I was but I was also giving this person the benefit of the doubt and trying to go on good faith and trust. I remember a time where we did not have to think twice, be doubtful of our brothers and sisters or even be afraid of things like scams. I prayed on this btu I guess when my maching acted up more than once, that was a supernatural sign to stop while I’m ahead. I will do whatever is in my power to help you get the word out to the masses of people everywhere about such scams. It would be nice to be reimbursed but I am not going to cry over spilled milk. Let’s just band together and get this criminal off the net, street, wherever. It can be done. I am sure the IRS has connections worldwide on bogust activity.

The FBI told us not to send anymore money or reply to anymore emails and they were reported on http://www.ic3.gov which is a good site to report frauds on. He was also reported on yahoo but we’re looking for a way to report him in Cameroon..If anybody knows how to go about that or what else we can do please reply.

Im so sorry to hear that you all got scammed also. I also was scammed from a woman named Mary Ann in Cameroon. She asked for only 200$ Then 400$ for the extra vaccinations to get my supposedly yorkie pup named “sissy” delivered TOTAL=$600. I fell for it not knowing anything about all these scams they were pulling!!! But for some reason she stood in contact with me saying she was gonna pay me back and all this. But I didnt believe her of course. But i made up this bluff that I was gonna report her to FBI to track down her email usage and get in contact with Western Union to have them pull footage for there identity.!! crazy i know. I was angry.!! Well anyways 5 months later after she writes me saying she sent the money in my name at western union.But she sent $1200 saying to get my share and send her the rest.(maybe she got scared i dont know but it worked!) I didnt believe her but i called anyways just to see if there was a money order and sure enough there was!!So right away went and cashed it. Then she sent another one for $400.Saying just to send that one to her new address. SO I START THINKING WHATS GOING ON!! IS SHE USING ME AS AN ADDRESS TO SCAM SOMEONE ELSE. Supposedly it was from her sister for a parrot she wanted to buy from down there in cameroon. The money was sent from a different name and from south carolina.So i told her i wasnt going to send the extra money because i didnt know why she sent it to me in first place!! And if this is legit have her call me not email because anyone can make a yahoo mail pretending to be someone else. Yeah i got alot of hate messages saying she going to call police but i wass like send them ill tell them what you did in first place. And that i didnt ask to get out in situation. But she stopped emailing me and i never got that phone call!!!!

I was looking for a Yorkie last year and came across one of these adds Of course the puppy was up to date on all her shots, house broken, comes with cage and toys. And all they wanted was a shipping fee hmmmmmmm. Well I do some searching and sure enough it was a scam, oh and by the way he was a preacher on a mission in Africa, and it was too hot for their pretend Yorkie. I decided to mess around with these people. Alot of emails back and forth me asking question after question, and them asking me if I made it to wire the money. I would reply sorry something came up today and I will get the money to you tomorrow. After several emails I decided to let them have it. I wrote: Sorry took me a while to get back with you, I have decided not to take your Yorkie, but since you live in Africa I was thinking you could save my pet Giraffe, hes just a baby and is up to date on all his shots. He comes with a cage and toys he loves to play with. Kentucky is too cold for him and he eats my neighbors leaves off their trees. Just ask and I will send you pictures. Promise you will take care of my baby giraffe. Needless to say this really ticked them off, and I believe they cussed me out, but it was well worth it.

I was alsmost scammed yesterday from a Michael Alain i think it was m.alain20@yahoo.com. Thanks to all of you guys i have my 250$ still intact and am looking locally, even if paying a little more for my puppy. Basically there are NOT ANY legit puppy sales out of Cameroon. Think about it, airlines are not going to bring an animal from AFRICA here to the states, not only that, the cost of fuel is way more than these people are asking, the airline shipping in the US to the US is around 200$. If it sounds too good to be true then it probably is!!! Thank God my hubby is way more skeptical than i am and figured this whole thing out. They even told us stories of there spouses dying which i now know is sooo popular with these people. DONT BELIEVE IT. I guess that it is the same group running around changing their information to try and stay one step ahead in the game. Well boys and girls… here is another web address for the English Bulldog scam. The web address is http://www.carranza22.22web.net.
I was actually able to chat with this so called individual online. They were using a Google e-mail account(c.carranza@gmail.com). They are as phoney as a three dollar bill! I knew that they were fake, so I played along with them as long as I could. After exchanging a few e-mails, in which they didn’t answer some very key questions… I stopped replying to them for about 2 weeks. They stated that they were in Lake City, California and when I had asked them, they were still there! But then when I asked for a phone number so that I can contact them on the dogs in question, they gave me this number: 0112377558419.
I asked them if this was a number in the United States, and they told me that they were currently in Cameroon. How nice! Their excuse was that they were with the WHO (World Health Organization) and that they were going to be there for a few more weeks. On top of that, they had a loss in their family (sympathy vote).
I gave them the run around for awhile, before I finally threw in the towel. This is a scam. It’s not too well thought out, but they are a phoney as the day is long. Once again, if it seems too good to be true, then it probably is!
BEWARE!
Not only are people being fooled by the scams to send money for free animals, but they are being asked to receive funds or cash money orders and wire back money. Internet fraud is everywhere, but PLEASE, don’t send or receive anything from Africa.
There is an article listed here from a victim that was actually reimbursed then asked to send back a portion of the funds (that’s what I gathered). This issue, along with the attempts to have you accept money, then wire it back is MONEY LAUNDERING. It is ILLEGAL for you and for them. Many times, the money orders that are mailed are fake or have other illegal matters tied up in them; when you go to cash them, you become an accomplice.
I have experienced several email relationships with the puppy “owners” in Cameroon, and people in Nigeria that need money orders/checks cashed here and sent back. Fortunately, I never fell victim to their thievery. One puppy owner told me it would take 8 hours 36 minutes for the t-cup yorkie puppy to arrive to my home. In the same initial email they asked me, “what state do [I] live in?” (linda smith)
In these 3rd world countries, computers ARE expensive; but that doesn’t restrict anyone from its access. Many cities offer internet cafés, so even a homless guy on the street with a few pennies to spare can pull these tricks. People get creative when they need or want money. Unlike most honest people that create legitimate businesses to provide jobs for others or secure their financial future, criminals create ways to steal and take what they can without working too hard; they get greedy.
These are SCAMS and can not only hurt your pocket financially, but you could end up being prosecuted criminally for your involvement. Just some extra words of advice . . . hope this will help someone before it’s too late.

I responded to a classified ad in that was listed at a reputable website from a lady selling her Toco Toucan pair at a low price. When I started to correspond with them, they said that the lady was deaf and could not talk on the phone and that her son did all of the speaking for her. I was given their number and everything. I sent over $400 for shipping and told I could pay the balance when they arrived. Then was asked to pay an additional $200 for a “Transfer of ownership” paper that was required by the government there, before export. During this, the man said that his mother was in the hospital and the next day she died. I felt so bad, and he said that he was broke and now a International Health Certificate was required and that the birds were now in England waiting to get the next flight over. I broke off communications at that point, realizing it was not what it seemed. I knew that it was a risk and talked with several friends prior to sending the first money. I had not seen this website at that time. I decided that if it was a scam, that I figured it was to make up for all of the “Starving Children” ads that I have passed up over the years. All one can do in this situation, is figure it was a gamble that I lost and learned from it. It was amazing how detailed their story is. They have several people involved, that act as different government officials and airport personnel. They can’t spell very well and avoid answering direct questions on the phone, by saying that the connection is bad. It is very sad and I feel very foolish. The e-mail I was given was hollylongpets@yahoo.com and the phone numbers were:0023799189821, 0023779366622 and 00447031887301. They sound very nice and talk a lot about being Christian (hoping it is a soft spot in our hearts).

Hey! I wish i saw this site before i decided to try to get an english bulldog over the internet. I had no idea about the Cameroon Scams! I havent yet seen this email Address on this site or other sites yet. here are a few emails. This guys claimed that he brought the puppy “Leroy” to the shipping agency and that the shipping agency would get in contact with me on how to make the payments and such. They told me the only thing i had to pay was $550 for the adoption fee and transfer of ownership papers into my husband and I’s name. I was told to transer the money via money gram at walmart. So I did. Then, i receieved an email the next day saying that leroy couldnt get onto the flgith because i didnt pay the $1750.00 for the insurance to cover the puppy in flight, and that it would be refunded to me once the puppy was delivered to me. So i paid it, not thinking anything about it. then, after i didnt recieve the puppy, i got worried and emailed this supposed reverand back and told him what this shipping agency was up to. Then shortly after, the shipping agency called me from an international number stating that the vet checked the dog and said because of its behavior it needed 3 different shots. Each shot was $300 each, and then a vet fee of $50 equaling out to the sum of $950.00. I tld the guy that i was not going to send it, that i woulod come up to washington dc (dulles international airport) to get the dog and drive back down to NC where i live. My husband an I drove to washington DC and there was no puppy, They said that they were in washington state. his exact words were “no maddam, your not listening to me, we are in washington state, where the white house is. you know, where the president lives, not washington dc” yeah, I am deffinatly an idiot after that one. So my husband and I sent the $950.00. After i sent that, they sent me flight information and that i would recieve the puppy, this morning at 11:10am. Before i was about to leave for the airport, the guy called me and said maddam, your puppy is now in GA but due to some problems, we need you to send over $1500.00″ me and my husband were like are you serious?! They said they needed a new crate for the puppy,($500), $650 to get the puppy out of quarnitine, and $350 for the feeding of the puppy while in flight. me and my husband said forget it, and researched puppies online and found out that cameroon was a scam!! I wish we found out about this sooner!!!! so people please READ THIS!!!! DONT FALL VICTIM OF THESE CAMEROON SCAMS.!!!! THESE PEOPLE ARE VERY SNEAKY and will do what ever it takes to get money.

yesterday I became a victim of a cameroon scam. Against better judgement i payed £220 for a puppy that definatley does not exisit. I do not think there is ANY resaon to scam people. The comment from the journalist is stupid. I may not be poor, but that money was still a lot od money to me, and litterlly all i had been saving. I wish there was something more i could do than write a blog, but never enter a deal to wire money to cameroon. EVER! they are lying terrible people that need to be stopped. it isnt just the money you see, its the feeling as well, I dont know about anyone else but the thought and preparation that goes into buying a puppy is much more than any sum of money. worst is i know its a scam and they are still emailling me and ringing me for the money.
I found three different stories about the same scam artist( and I use that word loosely) he now operating under a different e-mail address….iifree@gmail.com>but its the same guy Ceasar Carranzer. He useing different variations of his name. He is opperating the same scam just with different dogs. Thank you guys for this site because you guys saved me a lot of money, in my search for a puppy.
I responsed to an ad I found on Craigslist in Asheville N.C. The ad was for an African Grey Parrot. I emailed the guy and he was from Cameroon. Well the deal seemed to be to good to be true. He only wanted $250 for shipping the bird to the U.S. He said he was a christian and I could rest assured that I would receive the bird. He even sent me pictures of the bird. I started doing research and found these scams sites. Well thanks to this site I did not get scammed. I hope everyone will do their research and not get taken by these people.
I just came across this mail and found out the first mail above was smiler to that Mr. Afafa send to me. also the names of the dogs are also of that he told there were available. So I adopted two of his puppies Named Kaka and Lilly they arrived safely. So if he is the person Madame/Sir I will advice you to stop tarnishing people character because you one day have a reward on that. So be judge of your self. i was on Craig’s list and there was an ad for “Free Congo African Grey Parrots” I fell for it and wired the supposed seller $60 toward the shipping of the bird she/he offered to pay the other $60 making the shipping $120 I then get an email from “Cameroon Airlines” stating that they need $300 for insurance but then turns back around and states that the insurance fee is “refundable” upon delivery of the bird. I DID NOT send anymore money because I figured out where this was leading but I still lost $60. They were also located in Cameroon.

I have also been a victim of this scam artists, but as a journalist, i investigated and found out the reasons they scam.
it is true reaping people off their money isn’t correct. but in this case one does it not for the fun of doing it but because they need the money. Saying that children do not go to school again but rather sleep in cyber cafes is not true. Most of them use this money gotten from scam to pay their school fees and buy their books. It should be noted here that cameroon is a third world country in which the standards of living are very low. people still die of hunger in Cameroon just because they have no income. Recently and to be precised, on the 25 of February 2008, there was strike action in cameroon which was initially started by transporters and became a scene of inferno when the youths joint it because of the poor standards of living.
There are university graduates now in the job market who paid their fee from these scams because their poor parents could not do anything for them let alone the Gov’t of cameroon. These people have always looked up to the world powers to come to their rescue of changing the gov’t in place if there could be change in the ways of living but to no avail.
This question i have asked many times without an answer ” why can’t We the Americans help Cameroonians who are dying of hunger by donating something and sending to them through American NGOs or any American body; But rather We spend money for Animals, Non human beings? This will be true if i say We will rather prefer a human being to die than see “Yorkie” dog hurt. We have to safe this part of the world bye showing our Respect for the Human Race than making them mean to Us.

I caught on right away. I wrote to an ad for a shih tzu I saw on the net. The name on the add was Marion Hammer. The email I received from them in response to my ad was from Marion.Hammer@yahoo.com. I was excited to get a response in looking for a shih tzu, but the minute I started reading the email, I said to myself, look at this crock of shit. Then I wrote back and said no thanks. Its mean that these people would do such a thing. There are many dogs close to where you live. Buy one from someplace where you can go and pick it up. There were two postings for $90 English Bulldog puppies. From two different people. I emailed both and got the exact same response. I did not know where Cameroon was so I googled it and found this. Thank GOD that I did!

I live in South Africa and they are also using our free http://www.gumtree.co.za site to post their ads.
They use bulldogs, yorkie,chihuahuas,monkeys,parrots and now even fertilized parrot eggs to scam people.
I even received “petexpress” quotations for the fee I need to pay for transportation. When I asked for banking details to do internet banking I was told to use moneygram.
Also when I started raising questions about the transportation they started getting irritated and tried to rush me into paying sooner.
I also posted “Beware ads” on our websites to warn people.

Wel i have just lost R1500, and the pups are supposed to be here and now they suddenly have requested a further R2900 for each pup (2 pups). Thank goodness i woke up as well, and only lost R1500, but the worst is I was actually heart broken not getting the so called pups.
I contacted someone who said they were in Arkansas about a bird they messed up and e-mailed me back about yorkie puppies. The e-mail is like all the others I have read sob story, and how they are over in Cameroon doing some christian work. The funny part is she claims to be barren so she has given all her love to her dogs which she calls her babies, yet she sends me a pic of her daughter? There are many other mistakes in the e-mail anyway the name is Solane Petra at solangepetra87@yahoo.com so beware is probably another scammer.
Ok so I went onto Craigslist and found a girl who was giving away her cute maltese puppy and it said she lived in Alexander City, Alabama. She said it was 12 weeks old and she didn’t have time to take care of the puppy. However, my “scam” replies aren’t much like yours.
I sent her a message saying:

I am very interested in adopting your baby. As soon as I saw it on there I fell in love! i live in duluth. is that anywhere near you? and do you still have the puppy available?

I sent her my address and phone number and my nearest airport. then i said “Could you send me a picture of the girl?”
before she could answer me back, an hour or so passed by and I got a local phone call from a guy (who i could not understand whatsoever) and he says
“hi i’m calling for maria about a puppy. i have a puppy for you from jessica ruby. I will need you to send the money through moneygram. go look at your email.” and he said some other things but like i said before, i could not understand his accent(sounded african)
then i get an email from that pet company and my mom read the email since i was at work. they pretty much said that there is a pending delivery. if a girl cared so much about these puppies, why would she just send them out like that? my mom emailed the “company” and “jessica” several times with her phone number and no one would call. and this is the address they told me to send the money to:

so this sounds similar to your scams, but was it a bad idea to give my address? i gave it before i knew it was a scam. i didn’t give them any credit card informatin or anything though. someone please let me know the dangers in them just knowing my address. i don’t think a random guy from cameroon will fly up to georgia just to find me or anything…

I also got scam. I read a post in craigslist and a couple was giving away a maltese puppy from ohia I send them $150 for shipping but then they said that the puppy arrive in newark and didnt have no insurece papers so I had to send $350 that’s when I started to get suspicious. Luckily I searched the net and found that many others were almost or scammed as well. If you get an email back like this. DON”T FALL FOR IT!! IT’S A TOTAL LIE. No matter how much info they give you about themselves, or how “trustworthy” they seem DELETE the email and tell them not to email you again. They are quite persistent. Hope this helps anyone who was ever tempted by these ads.

Oh my god!!! I had no idea about the Cameroon scams before I went to look up for Maltese puppies for adoption. I am a victim of this freaken scams!! That is not fair to anyone, its not only about the money, but its about the feelings and excitement we get knowing that I was going to get a puppy for the first time! I really think that someone should do something about the frauds and scams in the internet! Now we can’t know what is a scam or the truth! I wish I had read this before. I have been reading the other comments about other victims, and they’re are the exact same words and excuses the scammers use to make us believe we are going to get the puppie. Don’t believe anything anymore about FREE things!! I sooo much regret it! I’ll rather go buy me a puppy at the pet shop where it’s going to be more positive!

I had an uneasy feeling after the first reply, but after the second I googled her name and came across her postings at several different sites. I did, however, come across this site and I want to thank everyone that has posted a comment/experience!!!!!! It saved me from making a bad decision!!!!
