Have your Mac start a program when you start the computer

If you are a Mac user and want a program to start automatically, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Apple from the upper left hand corner
  2. Click System Preferences
  3. Click Accounts in the System section
  4. Click your user name
  5. Click the Login Items button.
  6. Click the “Add (+)” button underneath the listed items
  7. Find the program you want to automatically start at bootup, and double-click it
  8. Close all your open windows

    Additionally….if the programs icon is in the dock, just click and hold on the icon for a second or two and a short list appears. click on ‘open at login’. If the program isnt currently in the dock, launch it and then do the preceeding!

    If you have a two button mouse, right click and select the correct menu item.
