How to backup your Gmail Address Book (contacts) – Video Tip

Backup of your important data is always an essential part of using technology. Here is a quick tutorial on how to backup your Gmail address book!

To backup your address book in Gmail, follow these steps:

  1.  Click Gmail above the Compose button in your Gmail screen (upper left side)
  2.  Click Contacts
  3.  Click More from the left side (if you don’t see “More” on the left side, skip to step 6)
  4.  Click Export
  5.  Click Go to Old Version
  6.  Click More from the options just above your first contact
  7.  Click Export
  8.  Click Export button
  9.  A copy of your address book will download as:  google.csv
  10.  Copy this file to a flash drive

CSV files also allow you to open them in any spreadsheet program where you can manipulate the data, print the data, etc.
