SanDisk Cruzer Titanium Flash Drive
SanDisk Cruzer Titanium Flash Drive

I received this wonderful device for review earlier last fall. We first saw it last year at the 2004 CES show. SanDisk showed a video of a dump truck running over the device to prove its strength. After carrying it and using it extensively over the past two months, I can verify that the Titanium is indeed strong...if not indestructible. I have dropped it, stepped on it, and (accidentally) put it through the washer and dryer. All this without any problems to the gadget or my data.
In addition to being durable, the Cruzer Titanium is also spacious...512 megabytes of data (almost a CD's worth of data and more than 400 floppy disk worth of data) in the size of a piece of gum! On top of all that, SanDisk includes some ingenious software to make backing up your data and keeping it secure easier.
Because the Cruzer Titanium is USB 2.0 compatible, I was able to transfer 250mb of data (59 files of various sizes) in about 22 seconds (very close to the rated write speed of 13mb/second).
Although this USB flash drive runs about 10-15% higher in price than other 512mb flash drives, I believe it more than makes up for the increased price because of its increased durability, useful software included, and well thought out design...including the cool retractable USB connector.
