Books on CD are a wonderful thing

Just like Rick, I also spend a lot of time in my car driving from one appointment to another. Lately I have discovered the joy of reading, both traditional books and audio books.

All through school I was never much of a reader. In fact, it wasn't until college that I actually kept up with reading the required text and that was only in classes that I enjoyed like American Government and Creative Non-fiction (yes that was a real class I took).

Late last year I installed a nice bookshelf in our bathroom and since then I have read about 5 books and too many entire magazines to count.

While I am in my car I listen to audio books. One tip about audio books, they are expensive brand new, but very inexpensive on eBay and Amazon. One of the books I recently picked up was almost $30 in the store, but someone had it used (once) for $10. Audio books are great, especially if they are read by the author. They keep your mind going and entertain you at the same time.

I find myself eating lunch in my car more so I can listen to the audio book.

I hooked my MP3 player up to my car and now I have three audio books on that little device and I change them around depending on what mood I'm in that day.

If you enjoy listening to audio books and you don't want to spend a lot of money, another great alternative is Audible.com . This is a subscription service especially for audio books and articles.

If you liked this post, consider buying me a beer!

audiobooks

You can go to mcpld.org the Mesa Co. library website and survey all the downloadable audiobook information. Many many titles!!! Some can be burned to cd, others can only be used with mp3 player. they even have foreign language learning stuff. but you've have to sign up for a library card. It's a great service (your tax dollars at work so take advantage of it)

Adam! No need to pay for audiobooks!!! Mesa County Libraries have downloadable audiobooks and it is FREE for anyone who holds an MCPL library card. So get over to your closest branch and sign up for a library card. Save lots of $$$. The libraries also have LOTS of CD audiobooks to check out at all branches.

Try this link:

http://www.gutenberg.org/

If you're interested in the classics, or older books (beyond the copyright date expiration), there are loads of free downloads here, many are available in audio as well.
