Rick, I too use both PSE and Picasa because each does some things better than the other (or I understand it better). To tag I just select the pictures I want to tag and then drag the tag onto one of the pictures. Unless it's reading my mind I can't imagine how it could get any easier. And to recall items from the catalogue you just click on the checkbox beside the tag. The timeline, calendar view and musical slideshow are added bonuses that I now couldn't do without. I'm currently holding about 11,000 pictures in my catalogue with well over 100 tags and I have never desired a BETTER product to organize my pictures. Every year I contemplate a CHEAPER product but the combination of editing and organizing is just really well done in PSE. Hopefully this year's version will include simple ways to post pictures to websites like Facebook, Flickr and blogs. They'd get my $100 again. Is there something that Picasa does that Elements doesn't, other than load faster? The load time's not much of an issue on my machine. I'm a long time Windows user so I'm used to waiting anyway. I can move, change, create new folders, make albums, web albums, gift CD's or email with a click right from Picasa. And I use PSE for lots of my editing. I do use Picasa for some simple editing and it does suffice for many of the day to day family photos. PSE is wonderful for more detailed editing. And of course it is so easy to open up in PSE from Picasa. For me it's not an either or. Picasa is hands above PSE for photo organization (and re-organization). PSE is great for editing that Picasa can't do. A great combo, but I would NEVER give up Picasa and I tell my friends and coworkers about it all the time. If someone is new to digital, I steer them to Picasa as a first stepping stone into organizing and simple editing and e-mailing and backup of digital photos. I use both Picasa and PSE all the time.
