Web designers, eBay sellers, and other folks who need to quickly and painlessly resize large digital photos had an excellent option in Windows XP. (See our tip: An Easier Way to Resize Your Digital Photos). However, that little utility doesn’t work any longer with Windows Vista. I’ve devised a little workaround that works, albeit not perfect. Here’s how:
- Open the folder where the photos you want to resize reside
- Select the photos to resize (remember Ctrl+Click)
- Click the Email button on the toolbar
- You will get a dialog box asking you what size you want to make the photos
- Click OK
- An email will open in a few seconds with the resized photos attached to the email
- Switch back to your open picture folder
- Create a new folder to house the resized photos (unless the originals are expendable)
- Position the email and the picture folder so you can see both
- Select the photos from the email
- Drag them to the awaiting folder
These steps make more sense when you watch the video below:

I,ve had my IBM think Pad for some time and haven’t used it for 2 years or more I got it out to use it and a yellow light came on but no screen light. I charged it over night and now a green light is on but still no screen icons or anything. Do I have to have it re-orogramed? What would be the cost of having it working again. I’m using hotmail.com as my email adress, and when I’ve told it to resize and attach to the email, no window comes up I think because I’m not using the Microsoft email program. Is there a way to make it open a hotmail email so this process works for me?
Thanks.
Only works with non-web based email clients…Outlook, Thunderbird, Outlook Express, etc.
