Computer users are always grateful to learn new tricks of the trade. One ‘trick’ that was implemented with Windows XP more than five years ago continues to escape many computer users…send pictures via email efficiently. Sure you might be sending digital photos as attachments, but can you send more than one at time? Are you resizing your photos before sending them so they don’t require horizontal and vertical scrolling? Do they travel quickly through the Internet or do they take a long time to transmit?
No matter now…this tip will get you sending multiple, appropriately sized photos quickly with Windows XP.
- Open your "My Pictures" folder or other folder where your pictures might be that you want to send.
- Select the photos you want to email (to select multiple pictures, hold down the "CTRL" key on your keyboard as you click the photos you want to send). Six at a time is a good figure not to exceed.
- Click the "Email the selected items" option at the left of the screen in the Task list bar.
- Click Ok on the next screen (asking you to resize your photos).
- Wait a few seconds and your email will pop-up with the pictures attached and resized.
- Address it, adapt the body and subject as you see fit, then click Send.
Note that this tip does not apply to web based email programs like Yahoo, Gmail, etc, but works great with Outlook, Outlook Express, and most other email systems.

A great little program for sending digital photos is ‘pic2mail’.
This program adjusts your pictures to email in seconds.
You can send a complete folder of pictures or just a few.
It’s free, or at least it was a few years ago when I started to use it.
However, I have heard it won’t work in Windows Vista.

I also really liked Pic2Mail, but these days use the even easier Picasa for sending email photos. Super easy and only one step.
I have picasa 3 and can not send email to aol
Are you using AOL software or accessing email via the AOL web site? You can send photos from Picasa using the former, but not the latter.
for years, using windows xp and outlook express, I have gone into “My Pictures” – hilited whatever I want to send, clicked on “email this file” had the option to size smaller, and then the email opened up with the attachments in place for me to put the email address in and done. Suddenly, yesterday, this option failed. I get to the “make my pictures smaller” screen, request that, and then nothing…..can you tell me what has happened?

If everything worked fine up to this point, then an update or some other setting changed on your system. This is a perfect opportunity to use the System Restore option found in the Accessories portion of yoru Start menu to set the computer back to a time when everything worked fine. Good luck.
How do I send a folder of pictures using Picasa? What does conserve andwidth mean?

how do you resize a photo before sending when you have gmail???? everything i send does require vertical and horizontal scrolling and i can’t figure this one out…

Unless you use Picasa to send your pictures with Gmail, you will have to resize them manually.

i have an hp all in one printer and currently when i open the software to scan photos, or upload them from my camera they go to my c drive by default. i want to keep that, if i download picasa will my photos still go to the c drive or will they be put in another place? thank you for answering my questions.

Pictures do not move when you use Picasa.
so if i download picasa and then load new pictures they will be in my c drive folder for photos? thank you again.
