Computer users who are NOT technical minded have too much trouble properly securing and keeping secure a Windows installation. IF a computer user only needs to do word processing, email, Internet browsing, and light digital photography, a properly setup Linux (Ubuntu or gOS) is PERFECT. The dozen or so clients that I have had success with have ZERO problems and stay within in these usage boundaries with no desire to branch out. I do agree, that IF a computer user needs to know things like Wine, command line installs and tweaks, then yes, they need to stay with Windows. In my opinion, however, a well configured Ubuntu install is no different to use than a Mac...just a lot cheaper. And I have more than a dozen cases to prove it.
