The Zonbu is extremely user friendly, and you could also look at Mint Linux and maybe PCLinuxOS and gOS for 2 other pretty friendly and complete operating systems. At the suggestion of a co-worker, I tried Kubuntu running from CD. This was a few years back. It was OK, but I didn't think it was as friendly as Zonbu appears to be. I'll have to try the Linux USB boot drive option, it sounds like fun - as long as the hardware supports it. Thanks!
