You DO NOT have to download CA from Bresnan

Many of my customers received the email pictured below, and didn’t fully read the email. Although, poorly worded and written in an alarmist way, it does say “Your current free version…“. Insinuating that if you are currently using their free and extremely slow security product, then you do need to update.

However, I do not recommend that Bresnan customers use this security software as I’ve found it extremely slow on even the fastest computers. Instead, follow my recommendations in this article.

If you have inadvertently installed this product and removed your current functioning security software, simply use System Restore to re-establish normalcy to your computer life.

  1. We had considered switching to Bresnan internet, but, thanks to this information about their security, we’ll just stick with Qwest, thank you.

    1. Qwest offers a good, stable Internet service, but can’t match the speed of Bresnan in our area. Remember that you DO NOT have to use their security product, and if their bundle rates save you money, it might make sense to make the move.

  2. Rick,
Enjoyed reading your conversations, comments and tips.
I will make it a point to check in more often.
    Thanks,

I have been a Bresnan customer for several years, I did download CA. how ever , it is space hog uses much more space on your comp. I stripped it out of my computer and all of my LAN , I now use Microsoft Security Essentials. It is great it is free and it automatically up grades with no effort on your part. For virus protection I use Super Anti spy ware. But the free version does not auto download updates. You can spend $9.95 for the full version. I use the free and it does OK.
