Make your web based email the Windows Default email – Video Tip

More and more computer users choose to use web based email systems like Gmail, Yahoo Mail, AOL web based mail, and HotMail. I recently found this tool that will force Windows to recognize that you are a 21st century email user and thus recognize email links on web pages and send them to your web based email instead of a system installed on your computer that you do not use. The download is quick and free, and the installation is equally painless. Watch the short video below to learn how. Here’s the link to the tool that does the magic: Gmail Default Maker (don’t let the name fool you, it works for Yahoo Mail, HotMail, and AOL web mail too).

In the video, I referenced another tip I did performing a similar function for Mozilla Firefox users…here’s that link: Set Default Email in Firefox

  1. Thanks for this great tip & download link! Since switching to web based email in November, I have been frustrated when attempting to email from programs or websites. You have come along again with an excellent solution to my woes! Thank you.

    1. I searched the web for this information the two days and it drove me to the edge of insanity! Then just before I succumbed to the straight jacket I typed in “you tube” and there the gates of freedom appeared. Thank you so much for the direct and simple way to set Yahoo as my default email account. I’ve placed your website on my favorites for future use.
      Thanks again,
      Rita Ann

  4. Hi Rick, Greetings from Malaysia!

Your video is really a KISS (kept impeccably short and simple)!

I’m searching for a way to configure mailto using sohu.com webmail, short of using GmailDefaultMaker.
