Due to many circumstances, busy scheduling, and a couple of short trips, I have been noticeably absent from posting new articles here at HelpMeRick.com the last few months.  Thanks for continuing to search for and use the information found within these virtual walls to help make your computer life just a little easier.

During these past few weeks, I have helped many, many people with their computers to fix and tweak various aspects of their computers. To save you some time and a little money, you can avoid calling a tech guy like myself by referring to some of these classic articles here at HelpMeRick.com

Now I need YOUR help…please. Leave a comment below with your favorite HelpMeRick.com tip links and more importantly, let me know what types of tips you would like to see in the future. Thanks!

Favorite tip is probably Gmail, as you predicted, as well as Google Docs and everything Google.

I’m just now looking for a new laptop and will pass on this 5-year old laptop to my husband to bring him out of the dark ages, (really! Windows 98!) I plan to buy, drum roll please, a 4 GB, 500 MB, dual core laptop (or i3 depending on price) as you and Adam suggested in your radio program.

Suggestions for future tips? Just things we don’t know about – yet. For instance just now I saw the password remembering help and now I’m using that. I usually find something every time I go to your website.

I don’t plan to buy MS Office for the new laptop. But, you probably already know, Google Docs presentation doesn’t take pptx yet so I have to convert my PowerPoints to Open Documents and lose a lot of the functionality, as I would also in converting to ppt 2003 -2007.

FYI, right now there’s a glitch in uploading in Firefox, it doesn’t work, so Google is asking we use IE to upload. But that should be fixed soon.

BTW, Bresnan has never fixed their upload.bresnan.net so I’m going to use WordPress for a website (calling card type) for my business coaching business.

    Thanks for your help Rick!

I’d like to learn more about how to use gmail for making phone calls, voice mails, etc. Thanks also for your wonderful information and computer tips here or in your monthly broadcasts.

  4. Hi Rick – I don’t have any questions but wanted to say welcome back and I hope you’re doing great!

Thanks a lot Kim! Appreciate the note. I see you took a little time off as well…hope you are doing equally well and feeling refreshed (except for your 95 degree weather today).
