Deleting files on your computer can become a harrowing experience if you accidentally delete a file vital to your computers health. This week I will outline two ways to delete programs from your computer and a safe method of deleting individual files.
Removing Unwanted Programs
Method One
1. Click on Start
2. Click on Programs
3. Find the application?s folder in the list
4. Inside the applications folder, look for a ?remove? or ?uninstall? entry and click on it
5. Follow the onscreen instructions
Method Two
1. Click on Start
2. Click on Programs
3. Click on Control Panel
4. Double-Click on ?Add/Remove? Programs
5. Find the application you want to delete in the list of applications
6. Click on the application once
7. Click on the ?Add/Remove? button
If neither of these methods works for your particular application, consult a professional.
Deleting Individual Files
There are only two rules here:
# Delete only files that you have created or downloaded (i.e. word processor files, scans, downloaded pictures, etc)
# Do NOT empty the Recycle Bin for at least two full computer sessions after deleting files?this will give you a safety net in case you accidentally deleted a needed file.
