Two guys can’t do it alone

I visited a new customer today that set the record for the most viruses and spyware on a single system. The computer had no anti-virus program of any sort on it, no anti-spyware system, was running the first version of XP, and on dial-up. Needless to say, the computer was hosed and it took more than six hours to clean-up (between what I did in two hours, and the four hours I let the user take care of in secondary scans and cleanup).

The customer made a comment that I hear often in this situation, "This kind of thing makes work for you, huh?." My standard answer, "Yes, but it is the worst part of my job. Why? Because this is so preventable."

Again, it comes down to the main reason Adam and I do the radio show every week and work so darn hard on this web site: WE WANT TO EDUCATE EVERY COMPUTER USER IN THE WORLD ON HOW TO PROPERLY USE AND CARE FOR THEIR COMPUTER. The information for properly taking care of a computer (and in many cases fixing a common problem) all exist on this very site. However, if no one seeks out the information, it won't magically be downloaded or transmitted into user's brains via osmosis.

Our show is entering its ninth year in this town of less than 50,000 people, my business is in its twelfth year, Adam's is in it's sixth or seventh year, my computer users group is in it's ninth year and yet we are known by less than 25% of our community if that. Our information is free, easy to understand, and available 24/7 via any Internet computer.

The information within this site can save any computer user hundreds of dollars per year and hours of time and frustration…if it is used.

Please help us, help you, and your family, and your neighbor, and your friends. Spread the word about HelpMeRick.com…today, tomorrow, AND next Thursday.

We do our best to spread the word, but two guys can't do it alone.

  1. We always appreciate the positive feedback and know that we have many happy and appreciative web visitors. Thanks for sharing your story. The last few months we have been harping a little more than usual about web visitors and spreading the word because we truly feel that we provide a helpful service that anyone can benefit from and become more efficient and content computer users.

  2. I know what you mean by not being able to do it alone.I grew up on a small ranch in west central NM 65 miles west of Socorro, NM and 90 miles east of Springerville, Arizona. I worked as a cowboy, worked as a dozer operator, a sawmill hand, a truck driver and some as a trencher operator. I’ve done a little plumbing, carpentering and electrical work. I had never even turned a computer on until about 9 years ago after I got so crippled up that I couldn’t do physical work anymore. I have subscribed to your newsletter for most of that time and can never tell how much I have learned from you guys. I think your newsletter and shotgun are fantastic. I’ve forwarded the news letter to a lot of people but they don’t take the time to subscribe or they won’t read it if they do. Some of our friends are calling me to ask something and when I ask if they read Rick and Adam — well no was that in there. Sure it was – all you have to do is read. Well OK next time but tell me how now. I’m trying guys. Please don’t give up cause some of us would be up a creek without your help. Thanks for all your time and help. Bonnie and Lee Graham – Raton, NM. We have lived here for a little over 7 years so Rick we never had the pleasure of meeting you. Would very much like to though. The coffee is always on so come by if you ever have a chance. Adam that goes for you too but figured Rick was more likely to be in Raton. Lee
