Is there a difference between the AVG trial version and the AVG free that you refer to on your site? Is it too late to get the free version or is it the same as the trial version? Thank you. Is it compatible with WindowsXP – SP1 only? I still need to restore computer to SP2 but want to be protected ASAP.
Thanks.

ANSWER
Yes, there is a difference between the trial and free versions of AVG. The trial version is good for only 30 days, then you have to pay for it. It offers a plethora of security options. However, I believe that most computer users can be adequately protected with the free version of AVG that does not expire and does nto cost any money. If you already downloaded and installed the trial version, you will have to remove it before installing the free version.
And neither version will work with Windows XP SP1. You need to get SP2 installed first.
Thanks for writing!

Btw didn’t microsoft release their own free version of anti-virus? There is also Avira one which I use… ain’t to shabby. You have to look at one ad when it updates which is like once every 2 days or so.
For protecting my ass for free… I can live with that.
Hey FJ. Yep, did a video on Microsoft’s new Security Essentials last week, and use Antivir myself. For most of my clients, the AVG still works best since it doesn’t require registration, codes, or have nags. That bothers folks too much, so I try to keep it very simple for them. I have been impressed with Avira AntiVir, however…fast and clean.
