This tip applies to Windows Vista and Windows 7, 8, and 10 users only. Since Microsoft opted to not include XP users in the upgrade path to Internet Explorer 9, you XP users can file this tip until you upgrade to your next computer (if you stay with Windows).
If you chose or were automatically updated to Internet Explorer 9, you may be like many of my clients who are not happy with the minimalist layout (similar to that of Google Chrome and Firefox 5…both of which I like better). To get the menus and tools back in view that you are missing, RIGHT click on the toolbar next to the tabs and enable the tools you want. Watch the short video below to see this tip in action.

My programs list an “explorer 8” program. How do I and/or should I activate it? Currently some sites do not support windows 7. Possibly they would support version 8? Also how can I discover if I’m using a 64 bit system?
Many sites (and more every day) do not support Internet Explorer 7..and increasingly 8 (the last version available for Windows XP). My recommendation for years is not to use Internet Explorer anyway…use Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome for a modern browser with modern capabilities and continuous updating to stay safe and functional. If you are using Windows XP, you are not using a 64bit system. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8 (not Internet Explorer…Windows), RIGHT click on the My Computer icon and click Properties to see whether your are 32 bit or 64 bit.
