Hey Grand Junction, CO visitors (where I live), have you noticed that the Google Street View is now available for many parts of the city? This photo was taken from a street view map from Google Maps. If you are still using Mapquest, you really should try out Google Maps…faster, clearer, and more features.
Would you like me to do a video tip on how to use Google Maps and Street View? If so, leave a comment below!
Sure! I think it would really be helpful to people to get an idea of what Street View is good for.
I use it all the time when I’m in a city that has it and I’m visiting a place I’ve never been. Say, for instance, I’m in Denver and I want to go to a new pet store to buy dog biscuits for Freddie the Wondermutt. I try to street view the actual front of the store, then I’ll pull back a little bit to see what the driveway or parking lot entrance looks like so I’ll know where to turn in.
I like it…thanks for the feedback and info on how you use it.
Please do a video on google maps and street map of Grand Junction. I’m still trying to figure it out
Thanks for all the comments…look for a Google Maps tip with Street Maps soon.
Yes, I would love to know more about using Google Street View. Thank you.
Rick, et al,
Caveat emptor is Latin for “buyer beware.” What is the Latin for “viewer beware of Google?”
Out of curiousity I googled the map of our street–McMullin Dr.–to look at a photo of our house. To my surprise and concern I found, among other errors, that the photo of our house has the incorrect address. Also, according to the map our house and others are located about 5-6 houses from the actual locations. I would say that this offset is significant.
It appears that the person(s) hired to photograph residential locations, and match addresses to the house, did a sloppy job.
I don’t have time to look at other details to verify the accuracy of the map. Perhaps someone else has the time to do this.
For now I’ll use MapQuest until Google gets its act together.

Hello Sveto. MapQuest is way out dated unfortunately. Google Maps are faster, cleaner, and easier. None of the GPS related addressing systems are super accurate and the fine print on all of them say accurate to within up to 150-300′. They will get you to the area, but then we have to read the signs and that’s no different on any of the services. Give Google Maps a chance, and you will never go back to mapquest again.
Yes please do a video on google maps.
It’s finished…just look on the home page for the new video tip.
would like to forward your newsletter to several friends, but you need to change your format so as to be able to select from my address book.
I really like your newsletters. Have used Street view of other cities, and would like to know why the addresses are off. (it must be intentional?) THANKS
Don’t understand your comment, sorry Mel.
I have found it hard to use—-So,yes, enlighten me! Thanks for all that you do to help us in so many ways. Wow,I see that the Video is out already—-I will check it out and get back with comments. thanks again

My husband will be retiring in three years and we are looking at coming back to Colorado. We are looking at G.J or Melrose. Please understand that we are not ready to buy just yet. We also have to sell our house make preparations etc. and I feel that there is no better time than now to start looking. We would also be interested in Looking for a Condo. Thanks
