How to scan documents to computer using Nuance’s PaperPort – Notes

This week, I had a client who really wanted to control the onslaught of paper he was accumulating and was thinking of buying a $200-300 document scanner to help him with the project. I saved him the money by teaching him how to use his Brother all-in-one printer to do the same thing with the included Nuance PaperPort software. Click the image below to see the full instructions I left for him.

As with anything digital, I also instructed him to make sure to keep good backups of all this digitization since he wants to shred the paper documents after scanning them.

  1. Hi Rick. It may be time to change the tag line on your email. I am no beginner, I’m probably shy of sophisticated, but I’m a savvy user, in general. I think your tips are valuable to people like me who just want to learn a new trick or angle from someone who actually opens all the options and studies them. Most of us don’t have the time to explore in such depth. “Enlightenment for computer users who want to get better” or something like that.

    1. I appreciate that Helen! I do use the occasional slogan: Computer help for beginners and those who support them. But I like your angle as well…I do get seasoned computer people telling me they learn a few things when visiting HMR. Have a great week. Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Hi Rick,
My 2 yr. old iPad is acting up. The button at the bottom of my screen will not allow me to change screens without totally shouting down and starting up again to get the menu. I have removed all the extra Apps. The man at Staples said to save everything on to my computer and then totally erase all on the iPad. What do you think without being able to see it? We are still in Bozeman.
    Thanks. Liz
