How to set Puppy Linux to double-click instead of single click

I use Puppy Linux to troubleshoot computers and backup data from dead hard drives. However, by default, the system automatically opens a file or folder when it is clicked just one time. For me, it seriously slows down my work. I finally learned how to set Puppy Linux to double-click instead of single click for opening folders and files.

  1. RIGHT Click on any desktop icon
  2. Click ROX-filer —> Options
  3. Click Filer windows from options on left of screen
  4. Uncheck the box that says Single-click navigation
  5. Click OK

This short video demonstrates how this tip works.

  1. Thanks very much for the advise on the single click deactivation; however it does not seem to disable the single click navigation for desktop items.

Would you know if this is correct, and if there is a way to switch this of too?

    Thanks in advance,

    Herman

  2. Advise is good but the truth is—
herman is right, puppy is still on single click…
oh this single click and my child, destroying every icon on desktop

  3. @IVO
If you are lazy to type more than two sentences , do not bother trying at all.
THERE IS NO PINBOARD in PUPPY linux!!!
    # PINBOARD
    bash: PINBOARD: command not found

    1. Right click an icon on the desktop, ROX-filer, Options, Pinboard, Pinboard behaviour, untick ‘Single-click to open’.

A little difficult to find and annoying that Puppy acts like nobody would ever want to choose double-clicking as the default.

  4. Awesome! Thank you. Back in the day… single-click used to be the default for all flavors of UNIX. Seems that many modern Linux distros don’t like that behavior, and default to double-click. I liked the single-click, but now that I have to use several flavors of Linux, it’s easier to change Puppy, than to have to change all the others to single-click…

  5. I like the single click, though I have Puppy setup on several thin clients which multiple people use and it just creates more headaches for me.

    Thanks for the tip.

  6. Close ROX. From an editor open

    ~/.config/rox.sourceforge.net/Options

Change bind_single_click to 0, save and close.

  7. …and ROX needs a setting for executables. Single-click nav is sweet but running every script you click by accident, not so much.
