This week, I received the following email from Sue:
Yesterday I tried to subscribe to your newsletter. It was so difficult, so complicated, so convoluted that I gave up. I am sure you need protection from spammers, etc., but do you think that if you made access easier you might have more subscribers?
If Sue is having problems signing up, I’m sure others are too. I pulled her answer out of this week’s Videocast to demonstrate visually how to sign up for my weekly newsletter.
I too have had troubles with other systems where the letters/numbers are difficult to read.
Google’s are the worst, and I’m always having to retype them.
For those that are not familiar with having to verify your email address, it is a process called “double opt-in”.
Essentially, it’s so that no one can sign up for you, and confirms that you are the owner of the email address, and that you really do want to receive emails from Rick (don’t we all!)
It’s an anti-spam thing, and is required for the CAN-SPAM act.
But after you confirm your email address, it’s just a matter of checking your email and reading Ricks newsletter.
Looking forward to your next newsletter Rick!
No matter what Jen says, you are a good man Matt! 😉
I think the email was a little exaggerated, but my greatest fault is not being able to be an a–. I figured that if she had a problem signing up, then other did too, so I swallowed my pride and tried to provide the service that I strive to provide. Thanks for comment! Loving the content on your site too!
New e-mail address. Thanks, Eleaanor
