How to type on a PDF or scanned form – Video Tip

One of the computer’s greatest weaknesses is filling in forms…until now! For a long time, I have recommended using FoxIt Reader as my PDF (Adobe portable document format) reader of choice. On and off, they have offered tools to help you fill in forms or annotate documents, but with their newest version, the form filler or typewriter tool is now enhanced and permanent. FoxIt’s typewriter tool is fast, customizable, and easy to learn giving you the ability to type on any form, the print or save the form.

This short video shows you how to use the tool with any PDF document.

      1. The Missouri Department of Revenue has a MO-1040 individual income tax return form that automatically does the calculations as you fill in the fields on the form. To print the return, you have to click a “Print Form” button. Foxit (5.1, WinXP) does not print the file, while printing works fine with Adobe Reader 9 (or 10).

While I do prefer to use Foxit or other pdf reader programs (most of my computer time is spent in Linux Mint), I need to keep Adobe Reader around for at least this one function.

        1. Thanks for your note. This is true for some really customized, functional forms, Adobe is the only reader that will work for security and interactivity purposes.
