Mozilla Firefox 3.5 released – Get it!

mozilla-firefoxlogoMozilla released version 3.5 of their  browser, Firefox, less than two weeks ago. I jumped on the update the day  it came out and have had zero problems. You already know that I recommend everyone use an alternative to Internet Explorer for daily browsing. If you aren’t using an alternative browser yet, then now is the time to jump in and start using something other than Internet Explorer.

Mozilla Firefox 3.5 shored up a lot of speed and memory problems that seemed to hamper some with their 3.0 release. I noticed an immeadiate improvement with startup speed using 3.5 and browsing also seems snappier. If you use Firefox extensions, most seem to work with no problems in the new version and developers are quickly updating those that don’t. Also, for current Firefox users, when you upgrade to the new version, there is no need to uninstall the old version, it will automatically be replaced by the upgrade with all your home pages, bookmarks and extensions still in place.

Have you already upgraded to Firefox 3.5? What are your experiences with it?

  1. I just installed 3.5, the one thing that I don’t like is that I’ve always had the quake alert and now it won’t work with the new Firefox. I’ve also found a few other of the addons won’t work either. I hope that they upgrade the addons also.

    1. The add-ons/plugins are maintained by the developers of that add-on not Mozilla. They seem to be ramping up pretty quickly. 3.5 was in development for more than a year, so they should be up to speed.

  2. Ok, so I thought I had gotten the latest release, 3.5, last week. Yet it did not note that. So I did it again today. And it still shows that I have the original version. I know it’s been installed today, since it looks different. with the tab above….Which I did not have before. Soooo, my two questions are:

#1.Why does it still show the original version? (when I check to see what version I have)

#2. How do I actually KNOW what version I have? (Since it still only shows the original)

I have 5 versions in my download folder. So I know I have been updating. (Yes, those downloads have all been installed after d/l) Yet it only shows the first original version 1.9 on my program icon when I click on properties. WHY?

This is why I save my downloads. Seems the only way to verify what version I have. That seems odd.

    Thank you,
    Anne

    1. To find the version of Firefox (or any program), open the program, Click Help –> About (name of program). You will then see the version.

      1. Wow, I don’t recall ever doing that. Oletimers must be getting the best of me.

Have another question. Will see if I can find it on your page here.

        Thanx again Rick!

  3. Noticed with the new update that all print is small again, control wheel has no effect. How do I change the size of print on screen?

    1. You can set default fonts by clicking Tools –> Options, then Content section. And Ctrl + spinning your mouse wheel still works.

  4. I recently installed Skype and now Fire Fox is REALLY slow! I also have Internet Explorer, which is just as slow. Let me explain further. It’s slow to come up, but once it does come up it seems to be fine. I do have the latest version of Fire Fox.

    Please help,

    John

  5. Is anyone else having issues with the latest 3.5 Firefox? Is it possible to go back to the prior version? Or should I attempt the 3.5.1?
    ANYONE? Comment, please.
    Thank you,
