This week Rita, Jim, and Ted asked questions and paid to have them answered. They asked about online backup, Outlook problems in Windows 7, and printing problems in Firefox. Here are their questions and answers:

I have windows seven on my laptop. can you recommend a password program as the password key does not work on windows 7. Thanks
KeePass Password Safe (http://keepass.info/ ) is the long time leader and consistent password manager across all platforms.
I sent an email with questions and paid $5.00. Did the two of them come together to you? I was a bit confused as to when to pay & when to submit the email.
First part of question:
My question had to do with knowing how to dismantle WinXP (if it is tricky) & make sure I have the correct Ubuntu OS. (Requested, received CD, downloaded on PC. System is probably getting pretty full for my 5 yr. old Dell desktop’s ability since it has a tendency to freeze up now’n’then on both Ubuntu & WinXP.)
2nd part of question:
When I choose Ubuntu upon booting up, it has 5 lines to arrow up or down to choose. It fades faster then I can read it so I just leave it highlighted on the first line as it appears. That is why I’m asking if I’m getting the right part of Ubuntu.
You are getting the right part, as the first selection is the one you will always use barring an error requiring some kind of fix. There is a reasonably easy way to change the timeout so you have more time to see and, if necessary, make a different selection. All you have to do is install a StartUp-Manager program.
Click on “Applications”, then “Ubuntu Software Center”. In the Ubuntu Software Center window, type “startup” (without the quotes) in the search field. That’s the field with the little magnifying glass. You should see an entry for the “StartUp-Manager”. Click on that entry, then on the arrow button that appears for that entry. Then click the “Install” button. Close the StartUp-Manager after the installation is complete.
Then click on “System”, followed by “Administration” and “StartUp-Manager”. The “Boot options” tab allows you to set the bootloader menu timeout and the default selection in the menu. “Use timeout in bootloader menu” must be checked. Click the “Close” button, and you should be good to go the next time you boot.
Any time you’re asked for a password, the correct one should be your login password.
Rick, sorry but i can’t find my questions in 076,077, or 078. You said it was on 77 but i listened several times. it’s not essential so PLEASE do not spend much time looking for it. but if it’s easy, i’d love to hear it.
I really like your new website and to know about these videocasts! just great to listen to and use for my next question.
Do you have an opinion about Big Dog Satellite for internet?
Hmmm…maybe I was just dreaming that darn it. Did we not cover all your questions or not? Please write again if I missed something. As for Big Dog, they represent a few different services, I believe. They themselves do not offer the service, just are reps for others. I was very happy with the Stelera wireless service initially, but they seem to have fallen off the wagon, so we still have the big 2 here in GJ…Qwest and Bresnan offering the most consistent service. We desperately need a little more competition in the Internet arena.
