Some computer users who work in an office or on a PC with other roomates or kids would like to password protect their email, calendar, contacts, etc in Microsoft Outlook. Until today, I didn’t know how to do that. As you know, when I learn something new, I pass it on to you. Remember, this tip is for OUTLOOK users NOT Outlook Express users:
- Start Microsoft Outlook
- RIGHT Click the Outlook Today icon on the left or the "Personal Folders" icon
- Click Properties
- Click the Advanced button
- Click the "Change Password" button
- Leave the "Old Password" box blank since you never had one
- Type the password you want to use in the "New Password" box
- Type the password again in the "Verify Password" box
- DO NOT check the "Save this password…" option
- Click OK on all three open screens
The next time you open Outlook, you will be prompted for the password you just set thus protecting access to your Outlook data.
i just installed a new microsoft office on my computer and the outlook asked me to setup. well it didnt work when i tried the internet e-mail option so i decided to go try the exchange but that didnt work either. but now i cant even get to the original startup menu it always takes me to the exchange and shuts off from there. any help?
Made things a lot safer for me! Someone told me this couldn’t be done. Appreciate it.
Thank you.
I was looking for a pretty long time and I had to figure out yourself. Then I came across this page where all there.
Thanks
If you’re using Outlook with Exchange server and you want to enter password each time you open Outlook, you must not use the Cached Exchange Mode and you have to tick Always prompt for logon credentials on Account Settings/More settings/Security tab.
This is Awesome!!! Just what I was looking for!
Thanks
Jess
Thanks Rick, That is just What I need
Dear friends
Thanks a loat through this help i can set password.
thanks a lot ! it really work for me.
This does not solve the problem. This only sets up a password for the mail file, not outlook. People will still be able to look at past emails. Topic heading is a lie
What was your problem? Making wild accusations about the article doesn’t help you get to a solution.
Dear Thanks,
For your valuable tips and advise great keep it up…

Arvind
