This week Google announced that Gmail customers have the option to receive email from Google+ (their social media site). Don’t be taken in by media hysteria, you can decide whether or not you want this enabled or not. I don’t like that Google implemented this feature with the default setting set to the most loose security (letting anyone contact you from Google+). However, like any service, you can choose how strict or loose you want the security settings.
Take the time to educate yourself about what privacy settings are available to your from any web site or service. Watch the short video below to see how easy it is to change this new setting in Gmail.
Thanks for that. I only have GMail/google+ because 1) I have an android phone, 2) I used to post photos to Picasa.. then they switched me. I’m not crazy about either.
Hi Rick, You have helped me several times and also our daughter (Jeri Simms) and her daughter Jordan at our home office at 240 Walnut Ave. Carol and I are purchasing two new laptops and need to transfer every thing from our old laptops. We are told that programs can not be transferred. Is that true? OR–can you do that? HELP—HELP—-HELP
Hello Mr. Walt. That is correct…programs cannot be copied between computers…only data. Programs need to be reinstalled from their original installation disks. If you have programs that are too old (pre-2007), they will probably not work on your new laptops. Good luck.
Programs CAN be transferred from an older computer to a new on, that applies to MACS !! If one has a Mac it is very wise to take advantage of their feature, “Time Machine”, an external backup drive. I just got a new iMac and my Time Machine transferred my programs, data, and even Parallels with Windows and the Windows programs and data. I use the windows Quicken and Roots genealogy programs.)
