Use the Ethernet port for broadband

If you have broadband Internet and you had the company set it up for you, it is very likely they connected it using the USB cable instead of the Ethernet cable.

The Ethernet cable has an end on it that looks like a giant phone jack and it is the most reliable way to connect your computer to your broadband cable or DSL modem.

Scanners, printers, joysticks, mice, keyboards, and digital cameras are just a few of the dozens of devices that can be connected to your computer’s USB ports. Since this is the case, you must load drivers to get your computer to recognize your broadband modem when connecting through USB.

The Ethernet port is exclusively used for networking. This means that you do not need to load any special drivers to connect your computer to the modem. Simply hook it in and configure the modem and you are ready to go.

If you are currently using the USB cable to connect to your broadband modem, you don’t need to install or uninstall any software, just switch the USB cable for the Ethernet cable and it will connect right up.

If you don’t have a place to connect the Ehternet cable on your computer, you can buy an Ethernet card for about $15 almost anywhere with a computer department.
