I really love English Bulldogs. Recently I became aware of a common pet scam that is based on every other over seas Internet scam. Someone from Cameroon posts a desired breed up for a ridiculously low price. He/she asks for money plus shipping. You never get the dog. Here is my recent correspondence with one such scammer. I have resorted the posts from oldest to newest so you can enjoy the events as they occurred. For reference, here are the photos the scammer sent with the email. Keep in mind that these are the actual size photos that were sent!

i was scammed of $7000 from cameroon when i tried buying a hyacinth macaw from someone i did not know.
I had to pay for insurance and cites permit in France infact it was a very bad experience,my kids called me a lier as they never saw the birds i told them was coming.

I know I did. It’s awful that this kind of bulls*** happens. My girlfriend was led to believe this was real. She was devasted. Of course, we didn’t send any money, so our lost isn’t as great as that compared to those I’ve read on here. I am truly sorry. My time and emotion put into this is enough though for me to basically unwind my feelings to this say “person” on the other line. Of course, he wasn’t phased much by it. I assume it happens to him more than once a day LOL.

My friend was scammed out of $100 for a Teacup Yorkie puppy. I told her not to deal with anyone from Africa and to wait until she had more money to buy one here (or adopt a dog), but she desperately wanted an inexpensive puppy as soon as possible. So she sent the $100. She didn’t hear back from him for a few days after sending the money. She wrote him and said ‘this better not be a scam because I’ve sent you everything I have now. I thought I was going to be fine but now I’ll barely be making this months rent and will have no money for food. I am greatly upset’. She received a rely a day later with the ‘explanation’ that he had been on a short business trip and was sorry for the ‘inconvenience’. He promised to call her when the puppy left the airport. Then she got an email the next day claiming he was at the airport but just needed an extra $93 for the crate. She wrote him back and told him she wasn’t sending anymore money. That was a few days ago and so far she hasn’t heard back from him. He, however was stupid enough to give out his real name and phone number. I managed to get through to him (used a free online calling service) and gave him a piece of my mind. Seems like it didn’t put him off for long because now he was responded to my reply to one of his ads I sent a few days ago. I am going to totally lead him on and play with his mind, which I can be VERY good at. When he gets right frustrated I will tell him ‘So how does it feel to put all that time and effort into something and get nothing back in return?’

My wife and I responded to an add for a yorkie I found on Craigslist in the Columbus Ohio area. The lister is catgoode06@yahoo.com. I thought we were going to Columbus to see the dog. Turns out she too is in Cameroon. Only $150.00 to send anywhere in USA!!!! We didn’t fall for this but my wife is heart broken after seeing the pictures and thinking she was getting a gorgious pet. I also responded to her add about two Maltese puppies for adoption at $150 each. I almost fell for it she used Cameroon and i though i was going to San Francisco to pick up the dog i found her add on Sunnyvale classifieds. I too have recently been scammed by 2 “different” people from Cameroon. Maybe I shouldn’t say scammed, because I never paid. One person name Joost Ozar sent me a picture of the health papers and the AKC card. So I went to AKC.org and asked the customer service workers about the registration number that was on that card. I was talking to Joost Ozar about getting a female English Bulldog named Gender. After I heard back from AKC, turns out the registration number belongs to a male golden retriever. I am currently talking to Glen Glen from Cameroon about 2 more English bulldog pups he wants to get rid of because the weather there is so bad. The puppies names are Kin (male) and Katie (female). This person supposably is from the US and just got transferred to Cameroon, and bought these 2 pups from some old lady, and took them with him. Sounds to me like we need to watch out for these people from Cameroon. You know what they say….If it’s too good to be true..it probably isn’t.

The same thing happened to me. In my situation, I payed with my visa though Western Union. I called Royal Bank (my visa company) and they didn’t charge me with anything. Even though the Girl in Cameroon picked up the money already. So I didn’t loose any money and the bank is looking for the crooks for the money instead. If you are in a similar situation I hope that I helped, even just a bit. I know how frustrating it is, but hang in there.

Hi! I put an ad on craigslist and received at least 6 emails from 6 different people in Cameroon. They are all saying they are doing volunteer work for Malaria and they don’t have time for their puppies. I’ve never even heard of the scam but knew it was one right away. They all said basically the same thing and had the same responses. “Out of all the people I’ve talked you really sound like the one for my puppy”. I’m reporting everyone of these people. Sorry for those of you who lost money. Also, it is not good to fly any dog under 6 months, I’m not even sure it’s legal.

We was also scammed by “adoption in cameroon” I had them send me adoption papers and all oof the other papers. We was out of over $1500.00 by time it was all said and done. I have done alot of reading and searching about these scams and they all sound the same as my story. I honestly think its the same people. I also conned them after I figured it all out, I pretended like there was not a problem and had them call my cell phone, there number showed up. That in a way helps maybe trying to track them. I dont know where to turn as far as turning them in. We sent money western union so you would think they can atleast be able to tell us somthing. I just dont know what to do or where to go. I do know they dont even have internet service in Cameroon. I know some how they should be able to track these CROOKS down if they realy wanted to. I want to find them and put them in the $700.00 cage I baught for by birds I “adopted” and make them sing, and they better sing real pretty!

Fortunately, we did not fall for it. A Yorkie pup was listed for adoption in our local paper complete with picture, shots up to date, AKC registered and microchipped along with an e-mail address for anyone interested. I wrongly assumed she listed only an e-mail address for the sake of privacy – which is completely understandable considering the vast amount of whackos out there. The listers e-mail address is callywoods@hotmail.com.
I became suspicious after the second e-mail response. I asked her if we could come and see the puppy since she was obviously “a local” – she responded with “I will have to ship the puppy since I am in Cameroon” and “if you want me to hold the puppy for you, you will have to send me an advance of $80 so I can pay for my college semester”. FUN TIME – there is a city near us with a similar spelling so I responded back by telling her that we would come and pick the puppy up and pay cash up front since the drive was only a few hours away – provided that she e-mail us a picture of her holding the puppy, along with a sign bearing my name and the current date. I haven’t heard from her since yesterday. I tracked “cally’s” I.P. address through arin.net/whois – which then led me to http://www.ripe.net. The I.P. originated from Wilson Airport Langata Road in Africa. Even more interesting, if you Google that e-mail address “cally” is listed under Yello – free classifieds as being in Jamshedpur, India! Whatever her ad was on there – it was yanked, I just checked. At any rate … I reported her a$$ to the airport abuse address, hotmail and this nifty little fraud center: http://www.fraud.org/info/contactnfic.htm
I’m dealing with another one right now – or, shall I say messing with, reeling in then nailing. We really do want another Yorkie, our 12 year old passed away at the beginning of this year. But for the time being – it can wait. Right now, I’m actually more interesting nailing such trash that would DARE prey on the innocent.

I have also had a lot of customers saying that either they were nearly caught, and others that WERE caught by these Cameroon Scammers. People are so vulnerable, not only with pets, but all kinds of stuff bought on the internet. I take ourselves for example.
We went on this “Bids.com site, and my husband bought me 2 chains. The pics were so beautifull, and the price!! oh boy… what a bargain. Well i tell you, when we received the goods, i vowed NEVER to buy anything on the internet EVER Again.
Coming back to the YORKIES. In South Africa, the yorky breeding has become very popular, and i would say in the last 5 years, every DICK, TOM, and Harry are breeding with them. Now it is so hard to find a reputable breeder, that i thought of “importing” my own yorkies from abroad.
The people here are saying it is VERY EXPENSIVE. Is that true?? Is there anybody out there that could give me an idea of the costs involved for such a transaction, and which channels do I approach? Do i also have to watch out for scammers other than the CAMEROONS????

Recently I have been encountering a problem when I leave my Satellite on and not using it, instead of going into sleep mode or standby the screen will go blank and it seems to be locked up. I have to remove the power cord and battery to shut it off then reinstall the battery or power cord and then it will start again. My wife and I have been dying to buy a Teacup Yorkie, and we found all these posts about people giving these pets for adoption. “5 people” replied with the same things: That he/she “went to a seminar in Cameroon and they have their pets with them and need to give them away because of not been able to take care of them”. At first I was like, Ok, so why are these people posting adds saying they are in Florida, when they are really in Cameroon. But now that I get the same questions via e-mail and same answers, same locations, my conclusion was that this was a scam. My wife started doing some research and found your page here, and this guarantees me that these “breeders” are definately scammers.
