I really love English Bulldogs. Recently I became aware of a common pet scam that is based on every other over seas Internet scam. Someone from Cameroon posts a desired breed up for a ridiculously low price. He/she asks for money plus shipping. You never get the dog. Here is my recent correspondence with one such scammer. I have resorted the posts from oldest to newest so you can enjoy the events as they occurred. For reference, here are the photos the scammer sent with the email. Keep in mind that these are the actual size photos that were sent!

Note that they were hoping that the dog would go to a good Christian home and that they work for Christ orphanage, yet she was delayed in a previous post because she was gone for evening prayers. Hi, I also nearly got caught with the Cameroon pet scam. Grieving from my dog being run over by a car, I searched the internet for a little Jack Russell puppy. I’m in Australia, so thinking that is I look in New South Wales I can drive up and pick up the puppy. So I responded to an add in Sydney. I received an email from Perth (other end of Australia) from becsteacuppupies@yahoo.com.au
The information on pet vaccination seemed genuine and intelligent however the email did say that the puppy didn’t have its Rabies shot as a vet would need to do that. Interesting in Australia we don’t have rabies. Still in my grieving state I sent a few more emails and asked for the phone number to call and discuss the puppy and transportation to Canberra. I was given a phone number but this wouldn’t connect, and I rang it quiet a few times. I emailed and asked Bec to check the number and she said sorry she was at work and that was the company’s only number and due to the lines being busy she was sorry I couldn’t get through. We emailed a few more times and Bec arranged transportation and said I would pay on delivery. I went and withdrew $500 and waited the next day for the delivery of the puppy. I received an email notification from the pet courier who displayed a logo of Uship. It seemed strange that they wanted me to pay to someone in Cameroon (Africa – I didn’t know where Cameroon was) but the notification said this was payment to the international head office. So I went and paid $500 to Western Union, and emailed the pet courier the details of payment. I started to get a suspicious at this stage and emailed them and asked for an Australian phone number I could ring to give them the MHCT number. The supposed pet courier had rung me twice in the morning. At one stage I had tried to ring back but my mobile couldn’t connect to the number (It is a Cameroon number – no wonder, but didn’t realise this at the time). Anyway the pet courier people rang me and I discussed my concerns and was reassured that all payments go to the international head office and the puppy was on his way to me. So I gave them the MHRT number…. Waiting for the puppy to turn up at between 4-5pm, it was lucky I had a computer wiz of a friend turn up who soon unearthed that it was a scam. I managed to ring Western Union and put a stop on the money transfer. The supposed pet courier has rung me since and said the puppy is in Adelaide and wont be delivered until tomorrow and that I need to pay the money. I have said that I have paid and I have a receipt to show the delivery driver (which I do) and as email is the only way I can contact them have sent them an email restating all the payment details and that I’m horrified that the puppy has gone to the wrong city and that they do something immediately.
It is now 3 1/2 hours after the puppy was due to be delivered and I know this is a scam and am lucky to have put a stop on the money. I should be able to get a refund tomorrow from Western Union.
I am so disgusted at what lengths people will go to and they have definitely played on my grief. While I feel an idiot for nearly falling for a scam I would just like to warn people, and that its now appearing in Australia.
From some of the posts here, I think the scam is starting to become a little bit more sophisticated, but what a nasty scam.

i too thought that it was a scam but yet i did it anyway because i wanted to save the puppy for i have always wanted the particular dog they had. it came down to the day the dog would fly and then i got an email and phone call saying that they needed a fully refundable pet insurance of $800 and $50 for a special crate due to bad weather. Yeah right… no bad weather between california and hawaii! and dogs do not get quaranteened unless they coming from out of country and when i told the lady to take her dog back to her home in hawaii and i will have my relatives go pick up the puppy…all communications stopped. i already knew i had been scammed but i was shocked at how far they took it.

This seemed super shady but my sister-in-law likes to see the good in people. She kept sending me emails and then asked for all my info to get the dog sent right away. I kept saying I wanted to talk to my husband and she insisted she get my number to send me more info. She got quite rude saying she already told me the info and to just tell her my address.
Well I thought this is too good to be true. So using the email address, I did try looking it up on facebook. Her name in the email was Linda Morgan but when she was messaging to my phone her name was Linda Rutsey.
After looking around online I came across this site which confirmed that this was a scam. Luckily, all I gave her was my phone number
After reading a few of these posts i figured, it doesn’t hurt to ask more info about her and the animals. I asked for more pictures of the dogs and for their colors and for pictures of both the parents and grandparents. My sister was in Africa at the time so I told her that my sister wanted to come check out the puppies before I make the decision and if she sees one she likes she will just take it from there and fly back with it. I never got a response.
I’ll stick to a local place from now on.

wow, i am shocked. today i was scammed by the sane person in one of the above emails. the story they gave me is EXACTLY the email i read above, only i was looking for a pomeranian puppy, and not a doberman. i am so thankful my gut instinct told me to do some research before trusting them and sending ANY money! what lowlifes!
Anissa–so sorry this has happened to you! I wish there was a way to stop these people but I did contact western union and they basically in the short form —shrugged me off and said they have no legal responsibilty for scams
I just don’t see how this is when in Cameroon they know these people coming in are scammers with money coming in from other countries for pets? They should be forced to show real IDs like we have to and some type of ID for being a so called pet place since it is probably daily they walk in for money–BUT somehow I feel people at that Cameroon office are being paid off. They have to be! I tried to pick up money from a Kroger in Alabama while in college from my dad and with my drivers lisc. they wouldn’t let me have it because I had dyed my hair blonde and my picture showed light brown hair!! so I am sure they are being paid off to look the other way and personally speaking having lived in Egypt for work..this is how daily life works..you have to pay off everyone under the table to do anything things are so corrupt.
I have contacted every website I have found to have their ads posted on. I have personally emailed the scammers and told them I will do anything I can to deter them but I am sure they were laughing all the way to the next money pick up. I can only tell you what I have found to be true in life no matter who you are or where you are from: What goes around comes around.
This will get them in the end.
I have been had by those Cameroon scammers how sucky is that my children are disappointed and I’m out of my money

So I had fun with the last email i sent them i sent them other email i seen that was posted on other sites and said here my prof on how i know your scaming also included at the very end of the email that they where being traced the whole time they where reading it and that the police will arive soon I hope they sweat for a good long while.

I recently went on this site and there was a lady from perth WA, with 2 labrador puppies for free adoption,all i had to pay was for shipping which was $180 which i have paid. then i was contacted by airpet relocators australia and they said he was on his way, then later that day they told me that i needed to pay for the special crate of $760 which i only ended up paying $300 and the lady who was sending the puppy paid the $460 owing. Now the puppy apparently flew from Perth to Albany and now is been held due to under 15weeks and needs temporal insurance. Which was supposed to be $2760 and i told the lady i dont have that kind of money and she has been paying it a total so far of $590 today, then i contacted them and they told me that it was only $1270 to go which is heaps less than before, now im not sure if it is a scam but i have to money transfer to someone in Cameroon for a puppy in Australia, through western union. i need peoples opinion as this is very strange as i havent paid out any more since the $500 but this lady is paying it but im not sure why if she was a scam she would be paying her own money, its just very suss to me please help as this is still going on right now. i am not paying anymore money but the purchase is still currently happening. thanks.

So, a few months ago, I got sucked into a puppy scam. Lost $300,., and today, I get an email from the same person, posing as a vacationer in spain who was mugged, and hasnt the money to pay their hotel so they can leave. I look it up and its the EXACT same guy. They never give up, do they?
So I just read where someone posted and said that they were scammed out of 300 but then stopped there…then later received an email from the same person posing to be a stranded vacationer needing to pay a hotel…this is also a very common scam but sometimes they hack into your email
This happened to me when my husband was working overseas. I received an email one day from his email asking me to send 1500 to pay a hotel in England because his wallet had been stolen and they would not let him go until he paid..he said they were even holding his passport and phone. So I called his phone and he didn’t answer so I emailed back and said tell me something that proves who you are..sorry but the email doesn’t sound like you–they had gone through all of our old emails while dating all the way back to 1999 and knew some pretty important stuff so I emailed back and said if you can tell me where our first date was I will send you 3,000
of course they emailed me back cussing me left and right saying just send the f*** money I am in trouble–I called his phone again and he said no I didn’t send it but my email has been hacked and I can’t get in …people are calling me telling me they received emails asking for money
so this is a common one but the sad thing is they do hack your email so my advice is to not keep any account numbers or vital info in emails..even emails they can blackmail you with
As far as western union’s plot in all of this..they deny any scams going on from either side of the ocean and they say that they have stringent id measures and their policy is set to prevent fraud but it is up to the customer to be smart enough not to make a mistake —just another example of CORPORATE GREED
They swap emails from their victims plus, since they are DEGENERATED CAMEROONIAN SOCIOPATHS, they forget whom they scammed!

This same thing happened to me except for multiple times and it was either one person with different names or two different people but they tried to sell me huskies named bella and ricco and the idiot showed me the same pictures twice. The first time I went to western union and almost paid $100 for shipping luckily the guy at the desk told me I was getting scammed. After sending the lady an email with a Beware of Cameroon website attached she stopped talking to me. And it was all thanks to the guy at the counter.
I know exactly how it feels to be scammed by such rude, heartless people. I saw 2 Teacup Yorkies for a cheap price online and emailed the lady. She gave me information about the puppies and told me she lived in Casper, Wyoming. She “registered” the puyppy within a couple of days and the agency called me. They were called Continental Pet Cargo. I had to pay $386 in total for it to ship to my airport. I got to the airport, sat there waiting for an HOUR. Then, I got an email from the Dallas Airport. The dog was supposed to go to Indianapolis. I called the “agency” and he told me the puppy needed an electronic crate for $620 because of the weather conditions and it would keep the puppy alive. After that, I called the Dallas Airport and asked them about both the weather conditions and the electronic crate. For 1, the electronic crate thing is NOT true and 2, the weather is BEAUTIFUL.
After that, I realized it was all a scam and notified the police IMMEDIATELY.
I also googled the lady’s name later on that night and realized she scammed so many people.

For anyone getting emails from the scammers saying they are the interpol police and they just need 50 euro to start a file for you…you should already know that this is another scam. If the police needed 50 dollars in any currency to start an investigation then they prisons might have 2 people in them today. Trust in goodness that these people will get what they deserve in the end. I have worked in medicine for years and I can tell you that one thing I found when treating patients in their end days was that the ones who suffered the most did many things bad in their lives and could not rest knowing the end was there and there was no fixing things. Karma has a way of coming back for people like the ones in Cameroon. I understand they are poor and want to survive but so does any other honest poor person who goes without. You can’t do the things they are doing and have a clean slate in the end with the Lord. They know this but the greed of money is too powerful. For anyone getting emails from the scammers saying they are the interpol police and they just need 50 euro to start a file for you…you should already know that this is another scam they are hoping to get people on. If the police needed 50 dollars in any currency to start an investigation then the prisons might have 2 people in them today. Trust in goodness that these people will get what they deserve in the end. I have worked in medicine for years and I can tell you that one thing I found when treating patients in their end days was that the ones who suffered the most did many things bad in their lives and could not rest knowing the end was there and there was no fixing things. Karma has a way of coming back for people like the ones in Cameroon. I understand they are poor and want to survive but so does any other honest poor person who goes without. You can’t do the things they are doing and have a clean slate in the end with the Lord. They know this but the greed of money is too powerful.
