I really love English Bulldogs. Recently I became aware of a common pet scam that is based on every other over seas Internet scam. Someone from Cameroon posts a desired breed up for a ridiculously low price. He/she asks for money plus shipping. You never get the dog. Here is my recent correspondence with one such scammer. I have resorted the posts from oldest to newest so you can enjoy the events as they occurred. For reference, here are the photos the scammer sent with the email. Keep in mind that these are the actual size photos that were sent!

Ok so I was looking for cheap puppies for sale at Kiji, and I stumbled upon an add saying Free bulldog puppies for Toronto and Mississauga locations. Me being dumb i noted that person saying please email me back ASAP. A couple of hours later he/she messaged me back, but I didn’t check my e-mail until the next day. So then i replied back and said a few things about myself even thanking the person for giving me an opportunity to own one. I even gave my number to contact me. Which by the way he/she never did. she replied saying this:

And so thats exactly what I did. I sent the “reverend” $150.00 through Western Union under the name of Craig Che, but in the emails it said Che kate. It still never crossed my mind that I was getting scammed. The BIGGEST mistake of my life I tell ya! .So then That night the “reverend” emailed me back saying:

I am emailing you from the airport. Colan is at the airport and he would be shipped this morning Cameroon time. Colan would be shipped at 8:45AM Cameroon time. I guess you are sleeping now because it’s mid night in Canada now. I would email you with the flight details as soon as the airport provides me with it.
Canada’s time is 4 hours back. The next day I quickly checked my E-mail and this is what the “reverend” had to say:

The airport manager called me on and phone and said that he has sent you an email regarding the insurance fees for the puppy. Could you please respond and let me know if you have received any email from them.

I was like OKAY?!. You could call me gullable. Let me tell ya at that time you wouldn’t even think that it’s a scam cause your focused on getting the puppy. So I quickly rushed to Western Union again to send money $120.00 not including the service charge of $24.00 . I went right when it opened cause the “management” of the pet traveller said pay ASAP so my puppy wouldn’t miss the flight. A couple of hours later they e-mailed me back saying:
Dear customer,
We have received the information and we are going to process the insurance papers now. We are going to email you with the flight details when the insurance papers are complete.
Management.
So I waited….and waited….and waited….until I couldn’t take it anymore with a tiny feeling of me getting scammed. So i searched up the pet traveller (Cam France Air Cameroon Pet Delivery ). I couldnt find any. I only found The airport but none for pets. So I was in a panic. I searched for scams till I found this website with similar stories like mine. I was like OH SH*T!!!!!! NOOOOO!!!!!! So I emailed the “reverend” back saying. He/she scammed me and I want my money back or i’ll sue you with some swear words in it. The reverend e-mailed me back saying he was legal and stuff like that. Please don’t believe what it says on the net. I know it’s hard to trust people these days. So then I told my mom what had happen and she said QUICKLY call Western Union costumer service since it’s open 24 hrs. The $150.00 was already picked up. Luckily my $120.00 was still there. I put a stop payment to it. The next day he emailed me saying How come there isn’t no money, how would I feel if i went to the bank and got no money. Funny thing is he/she had the guts to call ME THE FRAUD. Imagine that! The nerve! I responded saying he cheated me blah, blah, blah. Till this day we are still arguing through e-mail still trying to make me believe that he’s TRUE.
I too fell for this scam. I paid out $367 total for a Boston Terrier that I found out was invisiable. I got emails from the owner the shipping company and the dept of animals in dallas,tx when the puppy had gotten to dallas he wanted another $750 I told him he could keep the puppy, I had realized it was a scam by this point. I just wish I would have realized it a day sooner I would have never sent the money. I didn’t lose much but the fact that my two small children are heart broken because they will not be getting a puppy pisses me off. I hope like hell that someone finallys catches this person.

I am also a Christian so I do believe that there is a God and that He has a sovergn plan for everything that happens even if it is too big for us to be able to see it. Bella is a beautiful puppy and I would love very much to give her a home. When I look at pictures of these precious little puppies my heart just aches for one! I am a responsible pet owner (my cat will be 12 this fall) and I have a compassion for pets. My husband and I are non-smokers and own our own house and have a half-acre fenced in back yard. We have lived here for 7 years with our 2 boys (now 9 and 7). We welcomed a new baby girl in March. those people scammed me bout a month ago. i was so devastated and embarrassed.now everytime i see an add that sounds suspicious i report it. its so wrong
My god…I got scammed unfortunately when it was too late. Now I scan the websites for more of these people and report them. I have been to the authorities also. I am now in the process of trying to nab these people that scammed me….and they have a cheek to use the same names and photos they used to scam me…but they think I am someone else! Can’t the IP’s of these users be tracked, and for that matter they must be able to track these people through Western Union etc.
There is no way that these bastards can’t be caught…can there?

In the first email, however, she told me that it was $120 for the crate, a price much lower than the advertized $210 on the Oogle.com website. The pictures that were sent were of an adorable little English Bulldog. What a shame that people will prey on innocent people that just want to adopt a dog.

I am a little concerned because I almost paid money to get a yorkie. The person gave me such a story and I ended up giving a photo of our family, our home address and personal information. I am scared that they might come and harm us. I know better than that and I regret that I did it just for a dog. They have no compassion and no consideration for people’s feelings. They sent me some stunning photo’s of a very sweet husky entitled GINA.JPG i asked loads of questions about where the dog was coming from, y it wasn’t being quarrentined as it was coming in from outside the UK they ignored my questions. i received this:

After that i recieved phone calls asking for the money, i convinced them on the phone i worked for animal customs at an airport and people dont just send their animals over for £150. yet this guy still continued to demand money so i told them i was a police officer and we were planning to raid them and they were going jail!! thus ending all contact.
omg I can’t believe I almost fell for this. Now I am not stupid. I am very good with computers and I know how scams work. I used to work at this place called “relay” and it was a site used for deaf people to make phone calls. There was a version of it online, and people would make scams through there all the time. We even had a checklist that we could look at to see if someone was trying to scam someone else. The specifications were
*having an e-mail address similiar to a name like kareng55@yahoo.com or ashleysmith24@yahoo.com or something like that.
*obviously being from some foreign country.
*their spelling and grammar wasn’t quite right. it was correct most of the time but not quite there…
and despite all of this, I only caught on when they asked for the payment. they said it would be $170 for the dog to be shipped here. but I said I couldn’t afford it right now and they even said they’d pay for half of it. so I’d be paying $90 or so. but once they said they were in africa and that they’d need to do eithe r a monygram or money order through western union, that made me slam the brakes.
I am not sure why, but when I worked at relay the scammers always wanted Western Union money grams. or money orders. It seems like it would be safe, but it isn’t. idk how it works, but it will never end well. Maybe they don’t have a guarantee for over seas or something? I’m not sure.
They even used someone’s colorado driver’s license and an actual birth certificate. I feel bad for this girl! she was only 18. it seemed pretty legit. (unless that was fake)

The thing that made me wonder, was that if they were a true animal lover, they would have known that I did not meet the exact needs of english bulldogs. I mentioned I had two other dogs and english bulldogs don’t get along well with other dogs that much. Also “wendy” would be living outside and english bulldogs are very sensitive to temperature. The fact that I live in Albuquerque, nm should have have made some kind of light go off in their heads or something. but they don’t know anything about english bulldogs. They sent me a lot of pictures and were very cooperative.
at least after giving them my name and address and phone number, I realized that they were a scam. Hopefully that mistake won’t be too bad…I’m scared though that they will use my identity.
I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. anyway, i hope this helped everyone.

It was a little wierd that she seemed to be such a good christian yet stated that If God loved others like they love him then why would her baby have passed away from a brain tumor. Then it also was a little fishy that she wrote after hospitalization she finally died. I know that if i just had a child that passed away i wouldnt write finally or died. passed away is just way more out of respect and this person should be ashamed for making up such a story!!! I definitly will be way more careful when shopping online..

4.) The Puppy is not have a CUSTOM DUTY CERTIFICATE……………………..$250 (usd)
From the above, the Refundable Life Insurance fee you are supposed to pay for the Puppy is;
250+270 (life insurance charge reimbursable) = 500 (usd) .
The insurance department will fully reimburse your $520( usd ) in the delivery process.This money will be handed over to you in cash by Two of our pet couriers at the port of arrival(Pitt international airport).Before that, we will issue you an insurance receipt which you will have to show to our pet couriers at Airport before collecting the refundable insurance funds.

i was on this sight looking for a teacup puppy i come across 3 little ones for adoption they said only $405 to send them to me then i was late payin and they aparently had to wait in france for to long so i had to pay for insurance to cover if anything hapens that was $1100 they said the its fully refundable when i get the puppies then whenn i paid that they said because it has taken so lomg the create has expired and i have to pay $800. the day after i sent the 800 my email shut down like they hacked into it and wiped the lot i finally got into it this morning 6/10/2009 its been bit ova a week i have been sorting this out i even brought the food and toys and still no puppies and they have not emailed me numbers they gave me dont work adress dont match up on anything the only info i got left on them is

me:i gave her my adress because i am so gullable i didnt even think people even did things like this!i never recieved the pics so i asked for them again and they seemed so real so i told her wat one i wanted.i spoke to my dad about it and he told me to leave it cos it sounded dodgy so i did the next morning i had 2 new emails!

i also had one from the pet express people it seemed so real so i went along with it but i did not want to give them £120 so i said that i would pay £60 now and £60 on delivery when the puppy gets to mine . so dumb as i am i payed £60 through a money gram at the post office but i was confused why they said the money goes to cameroon but i went along with it and payed the money i had a phone call from a person from the airlines saying they had checked the puppy over to see if it was safe for flying and that due to my late payment it would come at 11 am the next day and then i realised when it never came it was a scam but luckely i didnt have to pay the whole £120.just goes to show you cant trust any1 on the internet!!
bewarned if you are going to buy a puppy from some one you dont know or havent spoken to in person if they say OK and nice hearing from you a lot when you only spoke to them 5 mins ok it is a scam the airlines are fake and the money goes to people in africa for drugs priks!!!!!!
Just today I almost fell for the scam. They were offering two english bulldogs for $300. His name was Andy Brat. They did say ok an awful lot and were very pushy about the money. I work nights so I was half asleep all day while talking to them but they would not leave me alone. Not only did the gentleman e-mail me all day but I also got a confirmation from screen name Air Port where they have copied and pasted from an Animailers website. ANimailers does exist however it is located in MD not Cameroon. The name they requested me to send it to Mrs Solange Nzegge Jolle. Telephone 23774592512. I also recieved phone calls because yes I went as far to give my phone number. The number I was getting phone calls from is 23774886398 however when I tried to call back it said the number had been disconnected. Another number I did not recognize that was calling me alot during the period of the e-mails is 3032227141. This is the one that scares me because it is a local area code and I gave them my address. When I try and call it back the number is busy. I hope this information helps someone else. I am lucky I did not go through with it but I was very close. Thanks for the erbsite and all the information. I was sitting around feeling bad that I had made someone go through all the trouble of prepping a dog and me not following through.
