I really love English Bulldogs. Recently I became aware of a common pet scam that is based on every other over seas Internet scam. Someone from Cameroon posts a desired breed up for a ridiculously low price. He/she asks for money plus shipping. You never get the dog. Here is my recent correspondence with one such scammer. I have resorted the posts from oldest to newest so you can enjoy the events as they occurred. For reference, here are the photos the scammer sent with the email. Keep in mind that these are the actual size photos that were sent!

I put a wanted add on kijiji and got two replys at seperate times. I wanted a German Shepherd puppy for my farm I recieved the first reply in the morning and actually went through with it and sent them the money and everything. Now I am dogless and just now seen this website to know I was just scammed. The second lady was the christian lady and I told her I’m onto her games.
Those people are shameless. They even reply to me after I called them SCAMMER!In their replies, they pretended very innocent and told me that they were not scammer, they just wanted to let their pets live in a nice home. I am getting furious with those ppl!!

I recently posted an ad that i was looking for a chihuahua puppy and i got an email from these people. at first they seemed really legit and i didnt pay much attention to the fact that it was from cameroon. i kept asking the lady how big the dog will be at maturity and she never answered. she just answered the question saying how sweet the puppy is and when to send the money. As you may well think I became suspicious so I wrote back asking if they had the pups listed under any other name and the Elton person wrote back saying that it must have been her son who listed them on another site. So, I decided to have some fun with them.

This is my problem with your ad. It is highly unlikely that two people with different yorkies, will have the exact same story about her daughter dying.
If your daughter really is dead, please have my humblest condolences. But if this is a scam, this is an awefull thing to do.
I then forwarded the Linda Cruz email to the Elton person and said who is this?
She said she did not know this person, but if I still wanted the pups let her know. When I wrote back that I am no longer interested in her dogs, guess what? She (or whomever it was) wrote back simply “fuck you”
Oh well, I guess you didnt get the chance to do that to me I thought!!
Please beware people, because I think I’m pretty intelligent and almost fell for it. They may have gotten me if they hadnt messed up by sending the second email from a different address!

My husband and were just scammed by the same guy over te weekend $620 with an add on kiji for a free Maltese. the shipping fee was$120, the same plot as the bulldog story. this guy is a pro. con artist and preys on people minds, also. he said it was stuck in the erie airport(where i told the sender we were from) and we had to pay $1000.00 insurrance fee then this “maryjen, the sender, said she would pay half. We are thoroughly upset and angry. i found the same add on kiji today and there is no way to let people know about that add through kiji. so be aware. the email he used was maryjen51@yahoo.com Posed as a woman in Michigan(spelled Mechegan) as the sender. the add is based in atlanta as it was when we first were interested. ended up wiring money to him in cameroon he was saying he was the pet shipping agency. he even gave me the phone number:01-123-797-716-045 and converesed back and forth about the money. which the number is no longer in sevice as of this morning.(may 3, 2009) this happened to us about 14 hrs. ago and he posted the maltese add the same time after he got our money. he used an address as: Monong polinus N

I live in England and had nearly the same email as this concerning a beagle puppy! I was told that he had 2 puppys, rocky and rose, which were his daughters but she was killed in a hit and run 2 weeks ago and everytime he looks at them, they remind him of his daughter! I was asking questions and never said a definate yes, yet he was really pushing for my details so he could ‘send rose first thing in the morning’ I was askin what company he was going to use to send ‘rose’ and can i have some more pics? When i looked at the pics again i did think it was strange that it didnt look anything like the puppy in the add i saw online (which was mysteriously taken off all of a sudden) I then noticed the pics had a website on the bottom? When i checked it out i realised he had taken the pics off an american website and was trying to pass them off as his ‘daughters dog’ which currenltly lived in Aberdeen, scotland! When i emailed again asking if he was 100^% sure that was the picture of the dog i would be receiving he replied with a quick ‘yes thats rose!’ followed by more pushing for my address?! I then googled the number he had given me in the email and found he had adverts all over the place, under different names, advertising different dogs! What sort of sick person fakes a dead daughter just for a bit of money?! I suspect he is still putting adds on the site i previously found him on, but as he keeps changing names and email addresses I cannot prove it is him! These people are sick and twisted and need to be stopped!!!

It’s a damn shame that people resort to acting as though they’ve lost a child. The way I found them out was due to the fact that they said in the title of the e-mail that it was a BROWN Yorkie and in the pictures it was your standard colored black and gold Yorkie.

I just last eve and today had the same scam on an umbrella cockatoo. The add was for cleveland Ohio or northern ohio on kijjii. When they ans me they were in victoria island southern cameroon. they had to get rid of the bird by order of landlord and it was free except for shipping fees $250 to my door. I was being nice and trying to back down and the wife offered to spend $100 of their money to save me. When I ask about it being delivered to my door what shipping co were they using since all I ever heard of had to be picked up at airport they wrote back asking for all info full name address phone and local airport. I had answered another add several months with simular emails but I didn’t take it as far as I did this one. Heart braking to think we want to adopt and give good homes to a scam artist empty whims.

I guess there are some idiots out there and that’s why you are thriving. I am only interested in dealing with local breeders and do not believe in flying puppies across the world.

We are a family in the US military and I used it as a threat to them so hopefully they will not be emailing me anymore. This is pathetic that people must sink so low to scam others out of money in such a mannor. I hope other people are like me and research before they wire money.

Oh my gosh! I cannot believe everything I have read! Its safe to say that I was about to be scammed by the same guy in Cameroon! I was offended when I found out he wanted me to send money to some country outside the US. Luckily I refused and then I never heard a single word back from him. How do we put a stop to all this! I have also been talking to a few other people from different ads and now I am afraid they might be scammers too! How do I know?? And that agent George guy is an absolute liar and definately helping whoever is doing this!
He’s moved up to horses now. I answered an ad for a friesian gelding of 12 years old for sale in Black Diamond Washington. After many emails back and forth, he tells me the horse is actually located in Maine. This is AFTER he finds out IM located in Washington. I guess he was afraid I would actually want to SEE the horse before we bought it. Well this guy is clearly an idiot because he sent me the registration numbers of this horses parents which I traced back to his owner who is happily living her life with this horse and clearly had no intentions of selling and knows nothing about ads being place to sell this horse. The info and emails look just like the countless ones posted here, same thing, send money to Cameroon, blah blah blah. This time he was calling himself Williams Dawrson (I think he was shooting for Dawson) and claimed to be a pastor and that this was his daughters horse who has left for college in the UK and he “is just to busy to care for his baby”
If enough people start complaining to the FBI something might actually get done about this. Although, since they arent commiting the crimes on US soil, they’re most likely isnt jack shit the FBI or any other agency in the US that can do anything about it which is why they’re still scamming. But, I hold out hope that maybe a law will get changed and they are able to charge these people since theyre money grubbing the US citizens, so I have filed my report with them. I have been experiencing the same e-mails. Gosh once they get your e-mail, e-mails come in from all sorts of people. Always, different. Gee it is kinda fun playing with them, but it also makes me angry that people like this take such advantage of us. I feel badly for the people who bought into the scam. I’m a little suprized how many people fall for this. After E-mailing back and forth a few times it became obvious they were shady. I hope the have to walk a long way to get there western union because I’m bored and intend to send them on as many wild goose chases as possible. After reading up on it these guysare pulling a similar scam on everything from cars to monkeys! So I’ll just have to tell them I’m sure I sent the money, just wait a little longer, I’m at western union right now, they say the money should be there HA HA! Maybe if everyone takes a moment a sends them of to get there “funny money” they can get some exercise!
